Mayor Joel Mayo Almario has issued Executive Order No. 31, Series of 2026, formally lifting Executive Order No. 30 and restoring normal government operations and in-person classes in the City of Mati. The new directive takes effect immediately upon signing on February 22, 2026.
Executive Order No. 30 previously placed the city under heightened emergency response and suspended face-to-face classes due to continuous heavy rains caused by the Shearline and Easterlies, following the issuance of an Orange Warning over parts of Davao Oriental. The precautionary measures were implemented to mitigate risks of flooding and landslides.
However, based on the latest advisory from the Mindanao PAGASA Regional Services Division as of Sunday, February 22, 2026, no Heavy Rainfall Warning remains in effect over Davao Oriental, with weather conditions showing significant improvement. Upon recommendation of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the city government deemed it safe to resume normal activities.
Starting February 23, 2026, all public and private schools in Mati may resume in-person classes, unless school authorities determine otherwise based on localized safety assessments. All government offices are likewise directed to return to regular operations, while continuing to observe standard disaster preparedness protocols. | CIO
