July 28, 2026. GIA facilitated the training on farm management and hydroponics workshop with Cagbalete Island Elementary School Annex 1 and Office of the Municipal Agriculture-Mauban. Afterwhich, a farm tour was done with handson on hydroponics letting the students plant their own lettuce in GIA system.

The whole day event was filled with learning and knowledge to produce crops through modern farming methodology with committed teachers, students and parents working together for sustainable food production in Cagbalete island.

Since pandemic, SDRC-GIA has been actively working hand on hand with LGUs introducing its recirculated and integrated AHA system (aquaponics,hydroponics,aeroponic) for circular food systems. The design was called CONRECO (controlled recirculating ecosystem) aquaponics which was a documented studies by Skills Development and Research Center and GIA FARM.

This recirculated system provides access to organic produce of high value vegetables, fish and crustaceans which believed to be a sustainable source of livelihood and income generation that will help to alleviate poverty and eliminate hunger of urban and rural dwellers. This could be an impactful and sustainable solution to address food insecurity and waste water management.
