Since elementary, my dream was always to become a nurse. Honestly, one of the highlights for me was the clean white uniform that nurses wore. And whenever people asked why I wanted to be a nurse, my answer was simple: because I wanted to help those in need, especially patients in the hospital.
But along the way, God redirected my path. I became a social worker and that deepened my understanding of His greater plan for me. Social Work was not even in my top three choices when I entered college. In fact, I had no idea what social work really was. Yet God, in His thoughtfulness and faithfulness to His promises, placed me in this course. Even though I never imagined myself in it, I survived college and graduated with high grades, by His grace.
Now, as a registered social worker, I see why the Lord chose this road for me. In our department, especially in the AICS program, I am able to help clients with their hospitalizations through Guarantee Letters. In my own little way, I can ease their financial burdens through proper assessment.
To my fellow social workers and to those aspiring to become one: this course may not make us rich here on earth, but in heaven we are wealthy because every act of service we give, every life we help, is a treasure in God’s eyes. Social work is truly a fulfilling calling.
