S.I.M.U.L.A. OF A NEW GOVERNMENT; A NEW GENERATION!

It's a wrap for the student government elections after a brief campaign period. Campaigning took place on February 10, followed by voting on February 11. In a rare sprint-style election, all campaigning and candidate outreach were compressed into that single day, then the student body cast its ballots the next.

This year, only one party ran, and there were no independent candidates on the ballot. That made the choice less about competing slates and more about endorsing a unified plan for the year ahead. Despite the uncontested field, students used the campaign day to ask questions, voice concerns, and push the incoming leaders to be specific about how they’ll deliver on promises.

The winning slate ran under a memorable motto and advocacy that resonated across grade levels:
“Leadership is not about being in charge. It’s about taking care of those in your charge."
"Every learner’s dream, concern, and idea deserves to be heard and acted on. From better campus facilities to stronger student welfare programs—I’m here to turn our collective vision into reality. Let’s build a school where we lead the way forward. Your vote is your voice—let’s make it count! 📚🗳️”

That message shaped the campaign’s focus: student welfare, improved facilities, more inclusive clubs and activities, and clear channels for student input. Campaign events on February 10 centered on listening sessions and short platform presentations so voters could understand concrete next steps.

The election also produced a milestone: the new student president-elect, Aleyah Reinne P. Ricafranca is the school’s second to be in Grade 11. Electing an 11th-grade president brought fresh energy and perspective to the role and signaled students’ willingness to support younger leaders with bold ideas. It shows leadership can come from any year level when the candidate earns the community’s trust.

Because the election featured a single party, the results are effectively an endorsement of that slate’s platform. Students and staff alike have emphasized the importance of accountability now that the campaigning is over. Many voiced hope that the new council will transform slogans into measurable action rather than letting the momentum fade.

Even in an uncontested election, the process matters. Campaign day and voting day gave the school a chance to practice respectful civic routines: proposing ideas, listening, and committing to follow-through. Now the real test begins — turning the campaign’s caring-minded motto into concrete changes that benefit everyone on campus.

The official canvassing of votes confirmed the elected officers of the new student government. Aleyah Reinne P. Ricafranca was elected as President with 578 votes, while Zaijan L. Mabini secured the position of Vice President with 521 votes. The role of Secretary was won by Princess Mae C. Arcos with 447 votes, and Mikyla Pearl Gabuco was elected as Treasurer after receiving 521 votes. For financial oversight, Ulysses P. Ribleza claimed the position of Auditor with 468 votes. In charge of communication and information dissemination, Joyce Kim R. Mariquina was elected as Public Information Officer (PIO) with 441 votes. Meanwhile, Althea M. Estrabela was chosen as Peace Officer (PO) with 463 votes. The results reflected the students’ collective support for the S.I.M.U.L.A. party and their confidence in the new set of leaders.

In addition, the following students were elected as Grade Level Representatives: Cris Ian Rizo Binig and Elija Lj M. Arnego as Grade 8 Representatives with [M:142, F:134] votes, Dallin Reynoso and Althea Panganiban as Grade 9 Representative with [M:142, F:134] votes, Juniel Hernandez and Jane Figuerra as Grade 10 Representative with [M:121, F:135] votes, Warren Constantino and Maria Juda Perez as Grade 11 Representative with [M:91, F:89] votes, and Errol Ribleza and Kyte Robles as Grade 12 Representative with [M:98, F:99] votes. These representatives will serve as the direct link between their respective grade levels and the student council.

Parents, Teachers and Students Unite: A Successful PTA Meeting

Every parent, student, and teacher was delighted as the General PTA Meeting finally took place at the start of the 3rd quarter of School Year 2025–2026 on November 22, 2025, at Ilayang Yuni Junior and Senior Integrated National High School. The meeting addressed important matters concerning parents, students, and teachers, including discussions on money allocation.

The meeting started around 8:00 in the morning, with more or less 600 parents attending. Honorable Dr. Susan B. Luna was present, as well as PTA President Noli M. Ricafranca, former PTA President Kagawad Libuit, and many other teachers and personnel. The singing of the National Anthem formally opened the program, followed by a prayer delivered by Sir Rodelito Paras. Sir Karl Rey Ortiz and Sir John Rey Laban served as the masters of ceremony and managed the program well.

Dr. Luna stated in her speech that for this school year, there would be no PTA contribution from parents. Instead, parents will only be asked to help if the school truly needs support. The allocation of the previous year’s budget was also presented by Ma'am Analyn Pastorfide.

A new design for the school fence and guardhouse was introduced. This design, created with the help of barangay officials, aims to ensure student safety and prevent incidents such as students climbing over the old fence. The project is estimated to cost around ₱300,000, but the principal explained that it will be completed gradually due to cost and labor requirements. Another suggestion from the principal was that students should remain in school during lunch unless they live nearby was also discussed, though some parents and students disagreed with this but the dear principal made it clear that this was only a survey.

Despite feeling hungry as the program extended, everyone still participated actively during the open forum. Parents raised concerns about the the late dismissal of students, especially for those living far from the school however teachers said that they only follow the DepEd order. Some parents suggested starting classes at 6:30 a.m. to allow dismissal by 4:30 p.m., but others opposed this because students from farther areas such as Acaciahan, Ibabang Yuni, and Patabog would struggle to arrive on time. Dr. Luna addressed each concern respectfully and provided clear explanations.

Overall, the General PTA Meeting was considered a success. The meeting gave parents peace of mind about issues concerning their children. Through the strong leadership of Dr. Susan B. Luna, the teachers of Ilayang Yuni Junior and Senior Integrated National High School continue to ensure student safety and give their best effort to support students’ learning and success.
