What happens when a poem steps out of the page and into the street?
Join us as we wander, observe, and listen—to the world, to silence, to ourselves.

✨ What a night! ✨ Our very first Salitaan: Slam Poetry was an evening of verses, rhythm, and raw expression. It was a gathering of voices that turned stories into art.

🛍️ To our merchant partners ( & ) thank you for supporting our local movement and giving our community access to meaningful, homegrown products that celebrate creativity and culture.

💻 To our tech partner thank you for powering the event and helping us bring words to life onstage with clarity and connection.

🎤 And finally, to The Basyang Kid, our co-collaborator and co-dreamer — thank you for lending your artistry, passion, and vision. Together, we’ve planted the first seed of many.

Here’s to more poetry, more collaboration, and more collective voices rising. See you at the next Salitaan Slam 😉

Slam Judge number 3!

✨Leandro Reyes — The Basyang Kid!✨

Leandro Reyes, also known as The Basyang Kid, is a spoken word artist, community builder, and event producer continuing the storytelling legacy of his great-grandfather, Severino “Lola Basyang” Reyes. With training in theater arts, his performances are marked by elaborative gestures and emotional depth—often described as “poetry with a surprise center.”

He is the producer of the Likhaan Creative Writing Foundation Poetry Slam and host of Third Thursdays, a long-running monthly spoken word show co-presented by Globe Telecom. In 2025, he was named DTI CITEM Artist of the Month. His poems have appeared in Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine and Postscript Magazine, and are available on Spotify and TikTok.

Leandro represented the Philippines in the Lit Up Asia Poetry Slam in Singapore and was a finalist at the Performatura Slam at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He was also a fellow of the Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Writers Workshop and EXIT11: The Virtual Collaborative Program for Emerging Artists, with his work exhibited in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

In 2024, he co-produced Dancing to Music You Hate: The Philippine Remix with British poet Jasmine Gardosi, supported by the British Council. His debut poetry collection, An Abundance of Such and Such, is currently being crowdfunded.

See him on the judges’ panel at Salitaan: Slam Poetry Competition!

Slam Judge number 2!

✨Cheyenne Lasam!✨

Cheyenne Lasam is an artist living in New Zealand, making her return after a five-year hiatus from the poetry scene. During her break, she poured herself into music and lyrics, even opening for Moira dela Torre’s concert in Auckland in 2023.

Now, after years away, Cheyenne is back with more poems and new songs—works that carry the rollercoaster of emotions she has journeyed through in the last five years.

Catch her as part of our judging panel at Salitaan: Slam Poetry Competition!

🌱✨ 1,000 strong! ✨🌱

Thank you for believing in the power of homegrown art—that creativity can bloom right here in the South. Your support proves that an art scene doesn’t just live in the city lights, but in every voice, every canvas, every stage we create together. Here’s to building a culture that feels like home. 💙

See you at 10K. 🚀
