New Sibonga Elementary School Grade V Class under Ms. Mabuti as the In-Charge of School Year 1954-1955.

New Sibonga was still part of Saug, Davao Province. Saug was the former name of the Municipality of Asuncion, Davao del Norte.

During this time, Nabunturan was still a barangay of the Municipality of Compostela.

Upon the approval of the Republic Act no. 2038, Municipality of Nabunturan was created as a separate Municipality from the Mother municipality of Compostela. New Sibonga was included as one of the Barangays of Nabunturan.

FROM THE INBOX I At the close of World War II, my parents decided to migrate to Mindanao, known as "The Land of Promise." Alongside his comrades from the war, they settled beyond the town of Nabunturan, Davao. My eldest brother Leo, my only sister Virginia, and Roy were born in Capiz. I came into the world in Davao City, and the youngest, Ike, was born in Nabunturan.

With the significant back-pay from the government for their service during the war, my father purchased a vast tract of land at Km. 95 or Noventa y Cinco, in the sitio of Linoan.

As a pioneering Gentleman Farmer in the late '40s, my father employed workers to clear the lowlands for rice cultivation. He also embarked on Abaca plantation and Tilapia fish farming ventures.

To provide for his growing family and augment his income between rice harvests, he took a position with the Insular Life Insurance Company. There, he thrived as an insurance underwriter and quickly became the top agent in Davao City. His sales acumen and interpersonal skills caught the attention of the head office in Escolta. Consequently, in 1956, he was promoted to branch manager in Butuan City, responsible for the provinces of Agusan and Surigao.

The year 1957 marked the time we had to depart our "paradise" in Linoan and relocate to Butuan City, amidst the logging boom.
