RET. MAY. GEN. POQUIZ, STANDS UP FOR BRAVE 18: “THE THREATS OF CASE CAN’T SILENCE THE TRUTH”
Retired Major General Romeo V expressed his support. Poquiz for the group called the “Brave 18” after threats of libel charges against some of them float in connection with their testimony in the controversial flood control investigation.
Poquiz's statement follows the warnings of Senator Erwin Tulfo and other personalities who were mocked in the allegations of the former soldiers.
Senator Raffy Tulfo had earlier said that his brother Senator Erwin Tulfo is allegedly preparing a libel case against witnesses accusing him of accepting suitcases with only cash.
According to Raffy Tulfo:
“I talked to Erwin about that and dineny niya as a matter of fact sabi niya, magdedemanda raw siya kasi it’s a total lie.”
Following this, Poquiz released a message that appears in response to threats of legal action against witnesses.
“Threats of libel against the Brave 18 soldiers who spoke out, motivated only by their love of country and willingness to sacrifice—even their own lives—for the nation, will not silence the truth.”

Recall at a June 4 Blue Ribbon Committee hearing, Brave 18 members reiterated their allegations regarding alleged cash deliveries, suitcases of money, and other transactions linked to flood control projects.
Several current and former government officials, legislators, and personalities were mentioned in their testimony. However, the defendants seem to have denied the allegations and questioned the credibility of witnesses.
Senator Erwin Tulfo is among those who announced the planned filing of cases against his accusers.
Poquiz's statement shows the continued support of some retired military officials for the testimonies that emerged at the hearing.
Meanwhile, the feud between the witness camp and the personalities they named continues, while the legality and authority of the separate Blue Ribbon hearings in the Senate is also being debated.
