WCEye Publications Holds Its First Summer Workshop on Campus Journalism and News Writing

WCEye Publications held its first summer workshop last June 9, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. via Google Meet. Fewer than 20 students who fulfilled the attendance requirement took part in the online session.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Ric Makabenta, covering two main topics: an introduction to campus journalism and the basics of news writing. Lectures and open discussions were used throughout the session to walk participants through the fundamentals of journalistic writing.

The activity aimed to inspire students and give them a foundation as they work toward becoming campus journalists. WCEye Publications, set to become the first campus journalism organization at Western Colleges Inc., marks this workshop as one of its earliest steps in establishing itself as a student publication.
