In a significant stride toward advancing community healthcare, the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) convened a special meeting with Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) doctors, Dr. Jamhel Felix D. Bargayo and Dr. Mary Jane Lagarde-Balverde, to solidify collaboration for the Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services (BUCAS) Center at the UEP Main Campus.

The meeting was graced by the dynamic UEP President Dr. Cherry I. Ultra, alongside Vice President for Administration and Finance Atty. Regine Ann A. Garcelazo, Vice President for External Affairs Dr. Nelia M. Adora, Dental and Medical Services Director Dr. Mary Sandie Jaymie Mahusay-Tan, College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Dean Dr. Sarah B. Delorino, ICT Director Dr. Celeste J. Chan with staff Mr. Mark Abayon, and OIC-HRMO Mr. Roque I. Irader.

This commendable initiative centered on ensuring that the BUCAS Center becomes a model of quality, accessible, and patient-focused urgent and ambulatory care. The discussion gave emphasis to digitalizing medical records, an innovation that ensures efficiency, security, and streamlined services for patients. Equally significant was the plan to deploy UEPโ€™s medical professionalsโ€”nurses, medical technologists, and other allied health expertsโ€”at the BUCAS Center, providing them with the opportunity to practice their calling while directly serving the university and the wider community.

Another key highlight was the forthcoming free flu and HPV vaccinations and other preventive healthcare programs to be rolled out by the Dental and Medical Services Office in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH). This proactive step not only safeguards the health of UEP stakeholders but also underscores the universityโ€™s strong commitment to wellness and prevention.

The collaboration between UEP and EVMC stands as a remarkable milestone; a shining example of what strong partnerships can achieve in improving healthcare services. Truly, this initiative is applaudable, visionary, and deeply commendable, reflecting UEPโ€™s steadfast dedication to delivering better healthcare for its students, employees, and surrounding communities. With the BUCAS Center, UEP is not only elevating medical services within its campus but is also championing a healthier, more resilient future for all.
