Celebrating the 6th Year of Campus Press Freedom!
Campus press plays a vital role in upholding the freedom of the press and freedom of expression within academic communities. More than just chroniclers of school events, student journalists act as watchdogs, storytellers, and advocates for truth.
Since the enactment of Republic Act No. 11440 on August 28, 2019, National Campus Press Freedom Day has been observed every July 25. Now in its sixth year, this annual event honors the enduring values of journalistic integrity, the right to express opinions, and the unwavering pursuit of truth.
Across the Philippines, student journalists are celebrated for their courage, creativity, and commitment to telling stories that matter. Their voices are the pulse of campus life—bold, independent, and essential. But amid growing challenges—administrative pressure, censorship, and budget cuts—the question remains; Is the Campus Press free or is it being silenced?
