On September 9, 2025, students and faculty of Adventist Mission Academy of Romblon (AMAR) participated in a fire safety education and a feeding program as part of the 59th anniversary celebration of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Romblon Provincial Office.
The event was led by Senior Fire Officer II Esteve A. Fortuna, who spearheaded an interactive session focused on fire hazards and emergency preparedness. Fortuna emphasized the importance of the word โSAFETY,โ guiding participants through key procedures such as sounding alarms, evacuating buildings, and alerting others during fire emergencies.
Participants were taught how to properly operate fire extinguishers using the mnemonic โTPASS,โ and were briefed on the importance of recognizing different classes of fire and identifying flammable substances. The session also underscored the need to contact the fire department promptly and inform others when a fire breaks out nearby.
Students and teachers actively engaged in the discussion, raising questions about real-life scenarios, fire prevention strategies, and the role of preparedness in saving lives.
The program concluded with a feeding activity for the students, reinforcing the organizersโ commitment to both safety and community care. AMAR expressed gratitude for being chosen as the beneficiary of the initiative, which not only equipped students with life-saving knowledge but also deepened their appreciation for the dedication and bravery of firefighters.
