One thing I’m learning as a single parent…
Kindness matters.
Gentleness matters.
Being loved in a soft and caring way matters.
But I’ve also learned that… it’s not the only thing that sustains a relationship.
As a mother, I already carry a lot emotionally, mentally, and financially. And while it feels good to be loved, I also need a partner who can stand beside me in responsibility, not just in affection.
Someone who can lead when needed.
Someone accountable with actions, not just words.
Someone is responsible for decisions, especially in difficult times.
And someone who values transparency because trust is not just given, it is built through consistency and honesty.
I used to feel guilty for wanting that.
Like maybe I was asking for too much.
But now I understand..
It’s not about choosing between kindness and capability.
It’s about finding someone who can offer both.
Because love is not just how someone treats you on the good days…
It’s how they show up when life requires leadership, structure, and strength.
To my fellow single parents..
We can appreciate a good heart, while still choosing what is sustainable for our future.
That’s wisdom.💚
