Saint Columban College-Senior High School Department (SCC-SHS) gathered Grade 12 students from the ABM and HUMMS strands in separate sessions for the research seminar, aimed at developing and enhancing research skills, held on August 18, at SCC-SHS, in the Audio Visual Room (AVR).
During the morning session, attended by HUMMS learners, the program commenced with an opening prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the SCC hymn.
This was followed by an opening remark delivered by Ms. Mae Kristine Ediang, MAED, LPT, emphasizing โResearch is really about one important thing, learning to ask meaningful questions and finding meaningful answers.โ
A HUMMS student, Adriel Gadiano, introduced the Guest Speakers for the morning session, Mr. Alfer Jann Tantog and Dr. Daisy Catubig, who discussed essential principles, standards and practices in writing qualitative research.
Mr Tantogโs discussion focused on ensuring that research is credible, dependable, well-supported, and conducted using proper research standards and practices, emphasizing โAs researchers, we have to keep in mind the following ethical principles,โ urging students to follow established research guidelines.
Moreover, the seminar resumed in the afternoon with ABM students participating in the session, who undergoes with the same sequence of activities.
Aleja Sophia Yabo, an ABM student, welcomed the afternoon sessionโs guest speaker, Ace Virgel Batingal, MBA, CHRA.
Ultimately, the research seminar aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed in writing, conducting, and presenting effective research.
