‎The Palawan State University-Coron Campus marked a major milestone as it held its 25th Commencement Exercises, Class of 2025 at Coron Coliseum on July 3, 2025.

‎After years of challenges, the Class of 2025 embarked on a new path toward a brighter future. With unfaltering determination, they continued without looking back, carrying the lessons that they’ve learned along the way. These challenges didn’t just test them; they shaped them and preparing them for even more demanding roads ahead.

‎Out of the 372 graduates, 13 earned Latin honors—three magna cm laude and ten cm laude—reflecting the students’ commitment to academic excellence and hard work.

‎Campus President Ramon M. Docto's speech prompted an emotional moment of gratitude from graduates to their families.What followed was a deeply emotional moment as the entire coliseum was filled with applause, laughter, and tears. Students embraced their loved ones, expressing gratitude that words alone could not fully capture. A graduation truly does not only celebrate the success and accomplishments of the students but also serves as a moment to recognize and celebrate the hard work and sacrifices of the people that serves as the ropes the student holds onto during difficult times.

‎Rimmon Harvey L. Albag, a Magna Cum Laude graduate in BS Criminology, delivered a heartfelt message urging his classmates to create a lasting positive impact. “Let our legacy not be limited to graduation photos, but reflected in the lives we touch and the chance we create,” he said, acknowledging not only the efforts of the students but also the sacrifices of their families and the support from faculty and staff. “Let’s be the class that not only made it---but made a difference” he added.

‎The Commencement Program concluded with the singing of Palawan State University Hymn and the exit of colors.

‎Despite gloomy weather, the graduates' joy in receiving their diplomas was undeniable, reflecting the hard work of both students and their parents.

‎In the often hurried world of campus journalism, where stories race towards deadlines and ink dries just in time for the next lead, it takes more than a leader to keep a vision alive. It takes a lighthouse. For Ang BISARA, that guiding light has always been Sir John Dave Tagulaylay.
‎
‎When the publication had fallen silent for nearly six years, it was his belief that sparked its revival. Vien C. Basig, Editor-in-chief, shares:
‎
‎“For two school years, we worked to bring it back, rebuilding the team, reestablishing our presence, and reigniting the passion for campus journalism. This wouldn’t have happened without Sir Dave. Without his support and push, we wouldn’t have Ang Bisara of the present.”
‎
‎The milestone became real with the launch of Ang Bisara’s official page in October 2024. From starting completely from scratch, the page reached 1.9k followers by March 2025 an achievement built not on numbers, but on grit, commitment, and a mentor who believed in them.
‎
‎Sir Dave’s guidance was not limited to grammar and structure; it was rooted in trust.
‎
‎“I’m deeply grateful to Sir John Dave for the trust he gave me,” shared News Writer Charlz Arvin Belgida.” That trust helped build my confidence and led me to a family I didn’t know I needed.”
‎
‎Each member carries a version of his influence that refined skills, restored belief, and a renewed sense of purpose.
‎
‎“Our adviser Mr. Tagulaylay left an indelible mark on me.” said Feature Editor Candy Jennifer Garcia. “He shaped our journalistic voice and perspective, and instilled in us the value of truth and integrity.”
‎
‎For Layout Artist Cyrelle Vista, the lessons were both technical and transformative.
‎
‎“He helped me see that layout isn’t just arranging visuals; it’s storytelling. Because of him, I’ve grown not just in skills, but in confidence too.”
‎
‎Behind-the-scenes voices echo the same message. One layout artist recalled how sir Dave reminded them that journalism isn’t about standing out, but about informing meaningfully, even from behind the camera or the byline.
‎
‎“His knowledge, expertise, and passion were instrumentals in molding my journalistic journey.” Said Sports Editor April Gamboa.
‎
‎And as he prepares to part from the publication, he leaves not just a team, but a promise.
‎
‎“I’ll never forget the words, dreams, and hopes he planted in us,” Charlz added. “We’ll miss you dearly, Sir, until our next gala with malunggay with cheese pandesal”.
‎
‎As Creative Director Jefte Saturnino put it, what set Sir Dave apart was his rare blend of pride and humility in leadership:
‎
‎“He served with professionalism, but never forget consider our capabilities and feelings. Even when we made mistakes, he assured us that he would never leave us behind.”
‎
‎Others offered tributes stitched with warmth and gratitude:
‎
‎“You didn’t just critique our work; you nurtured our confidence.”
‎
‎“Your office was a newsroom, a refuge, and a workshop all in one”
‎
‎Sir Dave did more than guide a publication. He built a home, paved a path, and sparked a lasting legacy. Though he now turns the page, his mark remains printed in every story yet to be written by those he once mentored.

The re-founding executive editors of Ang Bisara, the official student publication of Palawan State University-Coron Campus, stood tall today as they earned their degrees during their .

They were Vien Basig, the editor-in-chief, Allan S. Riñon, Jr., the associate editor, and Marialyn E. Navarrez, the managing editor.

They are three of the 372 graduates on the campus alone.

In an interview, they mentioned that one of their milestones is bringing back the publication after six academic years of hiatus. "For two school years, we’ve been working hard to bring it back—rebuilding the team, reestablishing our presence, and reigniting the passion for campus journalism," they added.

Furthermore, they also take pride in their presence in the digital world through Facebook. The publication's page has 1.9K followers, which was created on October 29, 2024. "It may seem small to others, but for us, it’s a huge achievement, especially considering we’re working with very limited resources and budget."

Cheers and pride echoed across Palawan as Sheila Mae T. Villa, a BSBA Marketing Management student from Palawan State University Coron Campus, emerged as the Platinum Champion of Palawan Pop Idol 2025 during the grand finals held at the Convention Center on June 18, 2025, as part of the Baragatan sa Palawan Festival.

Representing the Municipality of Coron, Ms. Villa captivated the judges and audience alike with her powerful voice, confident stage presence, and heartfelt performance. Her talent and charisma stood out among the province’s best aspiring singers, earning her the most coveted title in this year’s highly anticipated provincial singing competition.

Ms. Villa’s victory is not just a personal triumph, but also a moment of pride for her community, her university, and the youth of Northern Palawan. As an active student of PSU Coron’s BSBA-MM Program, she has been admired for her discipline in balancing academics and her passion for music.

The Baragatan sa Palawan Festival is the province’s biggest annual celebration, showcasing local culture, talents, and achievements from all 23 municipalities and Puerto Princesa City. The Palawan Pop Idol competition remains one of the highlights, giving young Palaweño singers the spotlight to showcase their musical prowess.

From a small-town dreamer to a province-wide champion, Sheila Mae’s journey is a story of perseverance, faith, and fearless passion—a true embodiment of what it means to be an empowered Palaweño youth.

‎This inspiring message came to life in a theater play performed by the second-year BSEd-English students of Palawan State University – Coron Campus on December 21, 2024. The performance served as their final requirement for their EL6 – Speech and Theater course under the instruction of Mr. John Dave Tagulaylay, and was a heartfelt adaptation of the Wattpad story Wake Up, Dreamers! by the acclaimed author AnakniRizal, also known as Demi, whose novel was published in print in 2021.
‎
‎The story follows five central characters as they navigate friendship and the pursuit of long-forgotten dreams. It is a touching reminder that true friendship can bloom despite differences, that compassion matters because everyone is fighting silent battles, and that real dreams are worth chasing, no matter how distant they may seem.
‎
‎Just yesterday, June 15, AnakniRizal—who has gained a following of over 66,000 readers—shared a photo of the play on her official page. In her caption, she expressed deep gratitude and admiration for the students' heartfelt portrayal of her work. She had previously reposted the play’s promotional poster back on December 15, 2024.
‎
‎May this story remind us all: even the dreams that once felt out of reach can come true—if only we choose to wake them up.
