10 New Davao City Buses Arriving by September

LOOK | Ten new buses under the Davao City Interim Bus Service (DIBS) are expected to arrive by September 2025, according to Davao City Bus Project Manager Atty. Tristan Dwight Domingo. These buses, fully funded and operated by the Davao City Government, will be deployed by the fourth quarter of the year.

“Sa latest communications nato, in the middle of August maybe those 10 buses will be shipped padulong sa Davao,” Domingo told Davao City Disaster Radio. “We are hoping that sometime end of August or September muabot ang bus... then our NC3 Bus Driving TESDA-certified drivers will be able to familiarize themselves, part pud sa ilahang training.”

The buses will offer free rides during peak hours once deployed. Domingo noted they are still waiting for the official list of approved routes from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Despite the DIBS launch, the city’s existing Peak Hour Augmentation Bus System (PHABS) will continue to operate. “With the DIBS, dili undangon ang PHABS nato kay dako man kini og tabang,” Domingo emphasized, adding that both systems will run concurrently to meet commuter demand.

Hiring is also ongoing for NC3 TESDA-certified mechanics and command center personnel for DIBS operations. Transport studies are underway to determine optimal PHABS routes moving forward.

READ | A temporary road closure will be implemented at Bolton Bridge I (Southbound) starting 10:00 PM on July 18, 2025 (Friday) until July 28, 2025, due to repair and rehabilitation works on the bridge.

During this period, Bolton Bridge II (Northbound – heading Downtown) will be open to two-way traffic.

Trucks coming from the North are NOT ALLOWED to pass through Bolton Bridge II. Please use alternative routes.

This traffic advisory is in accordance with City Ordinance No. 003-25, Series of 2025.

JUST IN | Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of 26-Year-Old Woman in Tagum City

TAGUM CITY, Davnor, Metro Davao — Police have arrested the suspect in the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old woman, identified only as alias "Anne," who was gunned down inside her apartment in Brgy. Madaum early Tuesday morning, July 16.

The suspect was apprehended during a hot pursuit operation around 12:30 PM in Brgy. San Pedro, Panabo City.

Recovered from the suspect were a .45 caliber pistol believed to have been used in the crime, live ammunition, and three sachets of suspected shabu.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the brutal killing, which has left the community in shock and mourning.

Jealousy turns Fatal: 26-Year-Old Online Seller Tragically Loses Life — Jealousy Suspected

TAGUM CITY, Davnor, Metro Davao — A quiet neighborhood in Purok 28-A, Kawayanan, Barangay Magdum was shaken early Tuesday morning after a 26-year-old online seller, Seannen Gellangarin, was found lifeless in her boarding house — the result of an incident now being linked to jealousy.

According to residents, Seannen and a male companion were heard in a heated argument shortly before two gunshots rang out. Witnesses say the man, who arrived in a car, allegedly tried to force his way into her room, kicked her door, and fired twice before fleeing.

“She was crying… they were arguing. He said something like, ‘I’ll h*rm you,’” a neighbor shared, visibly shaken.

Loved ones are left devastated by the loss of a young woman known for her kindness and hard work as an online seller. Her body now rests in a local funeral home, while police continue to search for the suspect behind the heartbreaking act.

🕊️ Rest in Peace, Sophia Marie Coquilla 🕯️

LOOK | Today, Sophia Marie Coquilla is finally laid to rest at Glorious Resurrection Memorial Park in Tagum City. As her loved ones said their final goodbyes, a community continues to grieve a life taken far too soon.

There is a small measure of justice — all of Sophia’s assailants are now in police custody. Among them are two minors who, according to CSWDO officials in a press conference yesterday, were confirmed to have acted with superior discernment. This means they understood the gravity of their actions — and may be held accountable accordingly.

As we mourn Sophia, we stand with her family and demand justice. Her light was stolen, but her story will not be silenced.
