My Early Routine as a Working Solo Parent

Sharing a glimpse of my regular morning as a Working Solo Parent who does everything on her own.

Our basic routine:
I bring her to school and then I drive directly to work after. Then after working partially onsite, I drive back to school to pick up my daughter so we can both go home together and continue the rest of our days.

This doesn't show the preparations that we do before reaching this point. Preparing breakfast, making Bleu's baon, ironing clothes, taking a shower, getting dressed, etc.

I continue working from home up until 2am. Then we sleep.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat everything the next day.
Simple. Ordinary. Real.

You can see the dark circles around my eyes telling you that this mom is not fully-rested. Because a Working Solo Parent functions 24/7 and she absolutely has no time for non-sense. Her hands are always busy --- cleaning, cooking, preparing, driving, working on laptop, caring for her daughter, etc. --- and lacks the time for self-pampering and beautification.

This is the reason why I consider the first half of my day sacred, as most of my time is dedicated to taking care of my daughter. You really cannot expect me to jump to a career mode during APAC hours because my hands are either on the stirring wheels or on my daughter trying to give her comfort.

My European and early North American hours are dedicated to both motherhood and career. I'm grateful for having these windows of flexibility at work because it's crucial for me to carry out all these responsibilities while only having a single warm body doing everything.

I don't wear make-up. I'm allergic and I don't have the time. My life is far from being idealistic but it's realistic and that's how I like it. Nothing is aesthetic and my car is not even automatic☺️

I'm obviously tired and consistently stressed but this simple and peaceful life makes me happy. And I truly hope that Bleu finds this the same way.

Yes, this kind of life is not for the Disney Princess but for a Queen busy enjoying her Mothership.

Grocery Shopping with Bleu at Landmark Ayala Malls Manila Bay

Another day, another grocery shopping day with this Little Miss. This time, we tried to do grocery shopping at the Landmark Supermarket at Ayala Malls Manila Bay to see if we could find new stuff that we could purchase. But, of course, we were there to do our usual grocery shopping to buy our favorite supplies.

I was happy when I discovered that Landmark Supermarket still sells Cem's Honey Calamansi Juice Concentrate, which I used to buy for Bleu when she was much younger. Bleu only stopped drinking water infused with this delicious honey calamansi juice when SM Supermarkets and Lazada stopped selling it.

Unfortunately, the price of Cem's went much further up, maybe because of the limited supply that they have currently. Apart from that, this Supermarket also has the complete variants of Glade Scents refill, which I've also been looking for a while then.

Grocery Shopping with Bleu at Shopwise Santana Grove

Another episode of grocery shopping with Bleu but this time at Shopwise Santana Grove. I decided to try to Shopwise this time because I wanted to compare prices (vs. SM Supermarkets). We enjoyed the whole experience because I appreciated the fact that the supermarket wasn't crowded. It's very organized and clean.

Bleu saw a lot of different items that she doesn't usually see at SM Supermarkets that's why she was able to pick more than usual. I also picked some new items myself because I'm not sure if we would go back here within the soonest possible time.

Grocery Shopping with Bleu at SM City Bicutan

If you know our story, you'd know that I used to have trauma of going to Supermarkets with Bleu because of her previous issue of having meltdowns in public. Well, I'm so happy to share that it's now a thing in the past because things have changed for the better. Bleu is now my constant companion whenever I go out to do grocery shopping. She enjoys it a lot!

This was the same Supermarket where she would have meltdowns and episodes of heavy tantrums especially whenever she would see items that she likes (i.e. kiddie bikes at the kids section). We've created multiple scenes here which made me develop an even thicker skin. I could still feel the body pains and the exhaustion brought about by those episodes. But, thank God, we're over that.

Bleu now enjoys being involved and I'm taking advantage of that so we could practice her ability to follow simple instructions. In this video, you would see how Bleu has improved when it comes to paying attention and having communication by way of actions and eye contact. Generally, Bleu is very obedient. She now knows how to accept a "No" without any violent reactions, unlike before. But, she doesn't only obey for the sake of it, she also knows how to stand her ground when she really wants something.

Blind UNBOXING of McDonald's TinyTAN Throwback Edition

So Bleu and I finally had the chance to unbox 8 blind boxes of McDonald's TinyTAN Happy Meal Throwback Edition. When this promo started, I planned of completing at least 7 blind boxes, hoping that I would get 1 member each time, as a basic game plan. Because of this, I intentionally did not learn about the codes so I could literally go blind whenever I purchase a Happy Meal box.

And in order to avoid any duplicates, I thought of buying from different McDonald's branches and ordering through different methods: via take-out, drive-thru, and via food delivery service (Grab Food).

And when we had the blind unboxing, I got 3 members with duplicates --- SUGA, Jimin, and Jungkook. I did not get Jin and J-Hope, unfortunately, but that was fine because it's part of the game. I thought about just giving away the duplicates to other ARMYs who would need them but I was glad I got many messages from those asking for swap/trade. So I still have a chance of getting Jin and J-Hope from anyone who would need SUGA, Jimin, and Jungkook.

This was such a fun activity and I thought of doing this again once the TinyTAN Encore Edition has been released in the Philippines by mid-October. And I hope that I would get the complete set of members by then.

I bought this dahil gusto kong mag walking daily, kahit anong oras ko gusto. Umulan man o umaraw, walang makakapigil hehe.

Okay 'tong nabili ko. Been using this for almost 7 months pero never akong nagka problem. It serves its purpose, ika nga, kahit di naman sya yung expensive type.

Asking Bleu to Respond to "Yes" or "No" Questions

So eto yung isa sa mga speech developments ni Bleu recently, marunong na syang sumagot basta meron syang options. Funny thing is, madalas pa rin syang manghula ng sagot😅

Ganunpaman, masaya na ako sa progress nya dahil dati ay inuulit nya lang palagi ang questions. Now ay marunong na syang magbigay ng response. At nakakasagot na rin naman sya nang tama basta may naririnig syang mga familiar words na nagbibigay sa kanya ng clues😊

Bleu's First Time Playing with Quiet Books

The moment I saw these Quiet Books I knew that Bleu would be interested to play with them so I bought them immediately. Lately, Bleu has been interested in playing simulation games online that's why I thought about buying these. She likes dressing up dolls and making characters do usual tasks at home that's why these kinds of toys are perfect for her.
