Vice Ganda Responds to Viral Airport Vlogger Incident
Filipino comedian and It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda recently addressed a viral video taken of them at an airport, where a social media content creator followed and filmed them without permission — and made it the focus of her content.
In the video that spread across social platforms, the vlogger trailed Vice Ganda through the airport, filming closely while saying things like, “Si ano ’to… artista ito… uy… ito ’yung sikat na artista sa Pilipinas!” and attempting to greet them with “Uwi ka na ng Pinas? Happy New Year.”
What caught attention was the vlogger’s claim — shown in the original post’s caption — suggesting she had forgotten Vice Ganda’s name despite recognizing them, a detail that many viewers found awkward and uncomfortable. The original post has since been deleted, but it had already been reposted and circulated widely before its removal.
During the January 5, 2026 episode of It’s Showtime, Vice Ganda chose to address the situation with humor rather than anger. They joked about the encounter while interacting with a contestant, even remarking that the contestant resembled the woman from the airport video. Vice recalled the exchange, playfully reenacting the lines and responding: “Happy New Year po. Hindi niyo nga ako kilala, ate eh.”
Vice Ganda described the person in the video as an “echusera” — a colloquial Filipino term implying someone dramatic or attention-seeking — and emphasized that, despite the woman’s claim of not knowing their name, it was clear she recognized them as a celebrity. Vice also mentioned that the encounter delayed them as they were rushing to catch their flight.
The incident sparked mixed reactions online. Some netizens criticized the vlogger for invading Vice Ganda’s personal space and making content at the expense of someone who was clearly busy and not seeking interaction. Others found Vice’s light-hearted handling of the situation engaging and entertaining.
