BAGYO UPDATE
5AM, November 8, 2025
Wind signal no. 2 is now up over Catanduanes, eastern and central Northern Samar, northeastern Samar, and northern Samar as Uwan intensifies further
Metro Manila and 51 other provinces, meanwhile, have been placed under signal no. 1.
Signal no. 1 has 36 hours lead time while signal no. 2 has 24 hours before the localities experience the storm’s strong winds.
Wind warnings up to signal no. 5 will be issued as Uwan is seen to reach super typhoon strength tonight or Sunday morning.
At 4 a.m. Saturday, Typhoon Uwan was located 985 km east of Eastern Samar, now with winds of 130 kph and gusts up to 160 kph. It is moving west northwestward at 25 kph.
It may make landfall over southern Isabela or northern Aurora late Sunday or early Monday as supert typhoon.
It will then cross Northern Luzon and emerge over the West Philippine Sea late morning or in the afternoon.
The mountainous terrain of Luzon will weaken Uwan, but it will remain a typhoon during its passage.
Life-threatening storm surge exceeding 3 meters may be experienced within the next 48 hours along the shores of Catanduanes, Camarines provinces, and eastern Quezon.
The coastal communities of Samar and the rest of eastern Luzon could also experience up to 3 meters storm surge.
Uwan will bring significant rainfall in Luzon and Visayas during its passage. Up to torrential rains may be expected over most of Bicol and Aurora on Sunday and over Northern and Central Luzon on Monday.
Widespread and serious flooding and landslides are expected in these areas.
