Chapter 28: Choosing Me

Happy 28th Birthday, Benj.

Wow. We’re getting closer to 30.

First of all, how are you? How was being 27? Did you enjoy it?

Looking back, 27 wasn’t perfect. There were a lot of lessons, disappointments, happy moments, and surprises. Some days were heavy, and some days reminded you why life is still worth living. But no matter what happened, you made it here.

And I’m so proud of you.

Last year, you promised yourself that you would learn to love yourself more. One year later, I can honestly say you’ve come a long way. You’re not completely there yet, but you’re doing so much better than before. Keep choosing yourself. Keep protecting your peace. Keep loving the person you are becoming.

For your birthday this year, I don’t wish for expensive gifts. My birthday gift to you is clarity. I hope you become wiser in every decision you make. I hope you become financially smarter and learn to handle your money well. Remember, healing your inner child is important, but don’t forget to take care of your future too.

And one more thing—always choose the people who choose you. Life is too short to keep chasing people who don’t see your worth. The right people will never make you question your place in their lives.

This birthday is extra special because it’s my first time celebrating outside the Philippines. Celebrating my 28th birthday in Taiwan is something I’ll always remember. It was beautiful, unexpected, and filled with happy memories. I got to celebrate with my partner, Jez, his mom, Maris, and our family. We laughed, sang karaoke, and simply enjoyed being together. I couldn’t ask for a better way to welcome another year of life.

So here’s to 28.

May this be the year you become wiser, stronger, kinder to yourself, and more confident in the path you’re taking. Keep growing. Keep believing in yourself. Keep chasing the life you’ve always dreamed of.

Taiwan 2k26. 🇹🇼

Some trips become more than just a vacation, and this Taiwan trip is one I’ll always remember. I was excited at first because I finally got to visit Taiwan with my family, try the food, and see the places I’ve only seen online. But before we left, my tita couldn’t come anymore, so biglang ako na ang nag-asikaso sa lahat. I was nervous at first, but in the end, everything went well.

Taiwan was beautiful, clean, and so organized. Yes, it was summer and sobrang init, parang Pilipinas lang, but the places we visited were amazing. I also enjoyed the food, the company of my cousin Justin, and celebrating my birthday outside the country for the first time. One of my favorite moments was flying the sky lantern in Shifen, and of course, visiting Taipei 101 gave me one unforgettable and funny memory too.

More than anything, this trip reminded me how blessed I am. Not everyone gets the chance to travel, celebrate life in another country, and make memories with family. Thank You, Lord, for this opportunity. Taiwan, I hope this is not my last visit. Next time, hopefully winter naman.

Elyu 2026.

I came to La Union excited, but also carrying memories from a previous trip that wasn’t easy to look back on. This time was different.

What I thought would simply be a getaway became a reminder that the right people can change how a place feels. I shared laughs, late-night conversations by the sea, unforgettable sunsets, and moments that turned strangers into friends.

Most of all, I got to see love in its simplest form—through the way my partner cared for me, looked after me, and made every moment feel safe and meaningful.

Some trips become memorable because of where you go. Others become unforgettable because of who you share them with. This was one of those trips.

Looking forward to the next one.

2k26 Zambales — A Simple but Special Memory

This is my first time staying in Zambales with my boyfriend, Jez. It is also our first long trip together with his friends. We stayed there from April 1 to April 4 during Semana Santa, and honestly, the whole trip felt a little surreal, unexpected, but very enjoyable.

It was also my first time working while staying in a province. Life there felt so peaceful and simple. Everything was calm, and it made me realize how nice it is to slow down sometimes.

On our first day, we went to the beach. I am not really a beach person, but being there with Jez and his friends made it different. I started to enjoy the sun, the sound of the waves, and even the saltiness of the water. What made it special was the company. I truly enjoyed being around them.

On the second day, we went to a river, and that was probably my favorite part of the trip. The water was cold, fresh, and constantly flowing. It felt very relaxing and refreshing, something that is hard to explain but easy to appreciate once you experience it.

Even though I still had to work during the trip, I still enjoyed every moment of it. The late night drinks, the conversations, the laughter, and the simple moments together made the experience even more memorable.

I am very thankful that I got to experience this trip with Jez and his friends. It was such a pleasure meeting them and sharing those moments together. Trips like this remind me how important good company is.

I really hope this will not be the last trip we have together. I look forward to more adventures, more laughter, and more memories with Jez and with his friends in the future.
