Who Can Be Against You?

Do you believe that God is for you and not against you? You see, the greatest blessing anyone can have is peace with God through Jesus Christ. To know beyond the shadow of a doubt that all your sins are forgiven is the greatest provision made for you on Calvary’s hill.

Jesus took upon Himself all your sins at the cross. He absorbed all of God’s fiery indignation and judgment against all your sins—past, present and future—so that you can be totally forgiven and have everlasting peace with God.

So today, there is nothing between you and God. There is no more sin, no more shame and no more condemnation! And if God is for you, who can be against you? Now, what will you do knowing that all His favor, wisdom, heavenly provision and blessings are backing you up, and that you cannot fail?

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:1 ESV

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

LIGHTS WILL GUIDE YOU HOME

I was driving home one night with the windows rolled down, the wind making a mess of my hair. The radio was playing, but I was mostly absorbed in my own thoughts—that is, until the first words from “Fix You” by Coldplay caught my attention.

When you try your best, but you don’t succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can’t sleep …
I began listening to the rest of the song. And I found that it was as if I was listening to a story—my story.
Lights will guide you home …
The song came to a close as I pulled into the driveway. “Lights will guide you home,” I repeated. What a simple yet profound thought. I leaned back and closed my eyes. Thank You that Your light has always guided me home.

I remembered the many times when I’d felt lost or alone or confused, but then the light of God’s love and care was always there to guide me home, back into His loving arms. This light has come in many forms—a friend who came to see me at just the right time; my mom or dad; a stranger who shed some new perspective on my life and thinking; and, of course, the love of my life, my husband, whose passion for life has many a time been like the sun breaking through the clouds on a stormy day.

I realized that God’s light has always shone on my heart. It has never turned off, never run out of power, never dimmed. Whenever I have stopped and looked, His light has always been there to guide me home.

Jesus told His disciples, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” He is a beacon of hope, a guiding light showing us the way to walk to reach our destination and fulfill our destiny; He is a warm glow that keeps us feeling loved when we may feel unlovely. Whenever we look up and away from what surrounds us, we can feel His light and His brilliance.
Every single time I’ve stopped and looked up, the light has guided me home. And I know it always will.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

"Enduring Hardship"
As Christians, we aren’t exempted from the difficulties of this life, even if some think we should be. If we have the expectation that our faith should shield us from problems, struggles, and suffering, this can lead to somewhat of a martyr complex when things go wrong, until we start to wonder, How could anyone possibly have it more difficult than I do?

If you feel like that, it might help to look around at what others, believers and nonbelievers alike, have to endure. You may find some who seem better off physically than you at the moment, but a lot of people are also so much worse off in ways that are very important, such as lacking the bare necessities of life.

Even though Christians face similar physical struggles to others and have lots of problems, at least we can usually understand from God’s Word that there’s a good reason for them, a divine purpose at work behind it all. Even when we can’t see any immediate good coming from our trials, they have the potential to teach us lessons and make us stronger. That alone makes them easier to bear.
Some people struggle for years with afflictions, or under a difficult employer, or at a job they hate. Others, both Christian and non-Christian, are ridiculed and criticized and rejected by others, or even openly persecuted for what they stand for. As Christians, we can often understand the ways that even our hardships serve to help us, but nonbelievers don’t have the comfort of a Savior who can help them make sense of what they suffer through. We may have a lot of difficulties, but our lives would probably seem comparatively easy to so many who face life without the sense of purpose that our faith provides.

We learn and grow from our troubles. Our struggles teach us how to have more patience, how to hold on, how to cling to God’s promises and “endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ!”—not just for one day or one week or one month, but perhaps for many months or years at a time.

The Bible tells us, “God blesses those who patiently endure testing.” “Patient endurance is what you need now [when troubles are surrounding you], so that you can continue to do God’s will.”

Paul went so far as to tell us to “glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

We may sometimes have extended periods when we’re not able to go on our feelings at all because things are going badly and we’re feeling pretty rotten, but that’s when we have to cling to the facts of God’s Word, that He still loves and still cares, no matter what we feel like. Even when absolutely everything seems to have turned against us or be going wrong, we can trust that good will triumph in the end, and Jesus will be victorious.

James 1:12 (NIV) Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Thriving Every Day

I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]..John 10:10,

God doesn’t want you to live stressed and with a “barely-get-by” attitude. He has new seasons of increase in front of you. He wants you to thrive, to live an abundant, overflowing life!

Sometimes when things seem difficult, it’s easy to slip into “survival mode.” When times get tough, it’s tempting to just “hunker down” and settle. If you’re not careful, you’ll develop a survival mentality that will keep you from growing and embracing what God has for your future. You’ll be happy to just “break even.” But as God’s children, we’re not supposed to just break even; we’re supposed to break through to a new level! We’re supposed to believe for more of God’s favor, increase and promotion no matter what is happening in the world around us.

Make up your mind today that no matter how difficult things seem, you are going to thrive every day! Take hold of God’s promises and declare that you are rising higher. Expect His favor and increase and see His hand of blessing in every area of your life!
