A good read on taper week, race nerves, and the mental side of ultrarunning.
Taper week often feels strange. Legs may feel heavy, fitness may seem to disappear, and doubts can start creeping in. But this is all part of the process.
Remember: you are not losing fitness—you are absorbing months of training. Trust the work you’ve put in.
Race nerves are normal too. They simply mean that the race matters to you. Instead of fighting them, channel that energy into preparation: sleep well, fuel properly, visualize your race strategy, and focus only on what you can control.
The hard work is done. Now it’s time to rest, recover, and arrive at the start line healthy, confident, and ready.
