Passi City College - School of Business Management (PCC-SOBM) marked a historic milestone as it successfully held its inaugural SOBM Week 2024, highlighting the theme "Empowering Future Business Leaders: Innovate, Integrate, and Inspire in Shaping a Legacy of Successโ on November 27-29 at the PCC campus.
The event kicked off with a vibrant foot parade featuring SOBM faculty members, the Student Council, and participants in the Sinadsad sa SOBM: Street Dance Competition.
BSBA freshmen and sophomores dazzled with their energetic dance moves, colorful props, and eye-catching costumes as they marched from the Passi City Sports Complex Oval to the Dr. Helmer Aguilar Gym, where the final exhibition was held.
Subsequently, the opening program commenced with a warm welcome from Mrs. Tulip Grace Arong, Head of the Office of Student Affairs, whose words set a positive tone for the day, inspiring everyone to fully engage in the activities and celebrations that followed.
The festive atmosphere heightened as Dr. Gina L. Batayola, Dean of SOBM, delivered an inspiring speech that resonated deeply with the audience, encouraging students to embrace the spirit of teamwork, creativity, and perseverance throughout the festivities.
Dr. Batayolaโs speech culminated in the official declaration of the eventโs opening, marking the beginning of what promised to be an unforgettable celebration.
One of the event's highlights was the Mass Dance Competition, where freshmen and sophomores showcased their creativity and dynamic performances, energizing the audience with their astounding choreography.
Simultaneously, a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Business Venture was led by Dr. Batayola and Mr. Christian Pol Panes. Joining them were Dr. Jojo Tibang, Dean of the School of Hospitality Management; Atty. Keziah Pearl Lomogmog, part-time SOBM faculty member; and Mrs. Arong, who were the judges of the contest.
The afternoon session highlighted the Business Quiz Bee, where participants who had qualified on November 14 put their general knowledge to the test in the Audio-Visual Room. The competition featured 40 students divided into ten teams, all vying for a spot in the top three.
Additionally, the Poster and Slogan Making contest showcased the artistic talents of the participants, who created stunning works centered around the eventโs theme.
The second leg of the event was filled with motivation and a strong sense of community as SOBM students gathered at the Dr. Helmer Aguilar Gym for team-building activities hosted by Mr. Michael Samosa.
Meanwhile, in the Entrepreneurial Management Product Showcase, themed "Innovating for Tomorrow, Showcasing Passi City's Pride," junior students displayed their entrepreneurial skills through impressive product presentations, earning admiration from attendees. Esteemed judges Ricky J. Sulpico, Mae P. Buenaflor, and Jenilee Jan Torilla evaluated the displays, applauding the studentsโ creativity and business acumen.
In the afternoon session, students attentively listened to the "Talk on Business Success Stories," where guest speakers shared their real-world achievements, inspiring the audience with their journeys and insights into business success.
The synergy continued on the final day of the event as students demonstrated teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship during the SOBM Games, hosted by PCC Librarian Mr. Edmar Labrador.
A strong sense of community filled the Dr. Helmer Aguilar Gym during Pista sa SOBM, a festive potluck where students, faculty, and guests came together to share food and celebrate their collective efforts.
The excitement peaked in the afternoon session with SOBM Got Talent, where participants showcased their skills and impressed the judges with brilliant performances in singing, dancing, and literary presentations.
Following the talent showcase, awards were presented by the Dean and Council President to recognize students who gave their best efforts and emerged as champions in their respective competitions.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Council President Marvin L. Geronaga.
โLet us remember the lessons weโve learned, the inspiration weโve gained, and most importantly, the knowledge and connections weโve made this week. Let these experiences propel us toward success and shape our future endeavors,โ Geronaga emphasized.
Beyond celebrating the creativity and talent within the school, SOBM Week fostered a strong sense of community and collaboration among students and faculty, leaving a lasting impact on all who participated.
