I used to think asking questions made me look weak.
That admitting I didn’t know something meant I didn’t belong in the room.
But here’s what I’ve learned since then:
→ Arrogance closes doors.
→ Curiosity opens them.
→ And no one grows without humility.
Here are 5 habits of genuinely teachable people:
1/ They listen to understand - not just to reply
↳ They aren’t waiting for their turn to talk.
↳ They lean in, not over.
2/ They’re open to feedback - even when it stings
↳ Not all feedback is fun.
↳ But it’s often exactly what we need.
3/ They say “I don’t know” without shame
↳ Confidence isn’t pretending.
↳ It’s knowing when to ask.
4/ They surround themselves with people who challenge them
↳ Yes-people are comfortable.
↳ Challengers make you better.
5/ They value progress over pride
↳ You don’t have to win every debate.
↳ Sometimes, growth means letting go of the need to be right.
👉 Being teachable isn’t about being less than.
It’s about being wise enough to keep learning.
What’s one thing you had to unlearn to grow? 👇 Let’s talk in the comments.
