My own experience!!!!

Just sharing my experience yesterday while I was in class.

One of my students asked,
"Ma'am, is it okay to use translation in answering the questions? Dili mi kamao mo-English, ma'am."
I replied, "Yes, that's okay, but please don't let ChatGPT or any AI tool answer for you. I’d appreciate it more if your response comes from your own understanding, even if it's not perfect."

A few minutes later...
"Ma’am, lisod jud i-English."
"Just use basic words, d**g."
"Lisod jud, ma’am!"

It got me thinking, back when I was their age, I remember being able to construct simple English sentences using basic vocabulary. What surprises me is that they’re already in Senior High School, a level that, during my time, was equivalent to college.

Maybe this is a wake-up call. Perhaps something in our current system needs reevaluation.

I believe we need to revisit parts of the old curriculum, when we had formal themes, spelling drills, and a strong focus on mastery before jumping into higher-level content. We might be pushing for advancement too fast, forgetting to build a solid foundation first.

Iba pa rin talaga yung mga kabataan na tumutulong sa mga magulang during weekends.
Kasi yung iba naghahanap ng excuse para makaalis ng bahay.
