During the recently concluded Bicol University Olympics 2025, several students from BSIT Animation 2 actively took part in the week-long celebration. From the colorful parade to the much-awaited BU Hataw and the main sports competition, the class joined in with enthusiasm and pride.

While an unfortunate incident occurred during the BU Hataw, we are deeply relieved that our block members were safe and did not require medical assistance. Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by the event, and we sincerely hope that all have since recovered well.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, athletes from BSIT Animation 2 pushed through with unwavering spirit, proudly representing Bicol University Polangui and proving once again that it’s the home of the multi-talented individuals.

The spirit of competition and camaraderie burned bright at the Bicol University Olympics 2025, held at the BU Main Campus Sports Complex from October 23 to 25, 2025. Students from various colleges and satellite campuses came together to showcase not only their athletic skill but also their unwavering school pride. Among them stood the students of BSIT Animation 2, proudly representing the home of multi-talented individuals—Bicol University Polangui.

Far from their usual canvases and creative studios, the students of BSIT Animation 2 stepped onto the playing fields and courts with the same artistry and passion that define their craft. Dubbed themselves the “Animathletes,” they proved that discipline, imagination, and teamwork extend well beyond animation desks. From the roaring bleachers of the BU Sports Complex to the tense moments before each match, their presence embodied both grit and grace, carrying the banner of Bicol University Polangui with pride.

In Athletics, Trina Shanelle Vargas emerged as a powerhouse in the Javelin Throw, earning Gold, while narrowly missing the Magic 8 in Discus Throw. Maria Princess Shaira Benitez brought home Bronze in the Long Jump (Women) despite facing challenges that prevented her from competing in Triple Jump, while King Carlos Retis gave a strong showing in Shotput (Men). Mark Anthony Millare demonstrated versatility across Long Jump, Triple Jump, 4x100m Relay, 4x100m Mixed Relay, Classical Relay, 100m Dash, and 110m High Hurdle*—pushing through multiple events with determination and bagging two Golds and two Bronzes*.

Beyond the track, Vargas extended her athletic prowess in Softball (Women), contributing significantly to the team’s overall performance and helping secure a Silver medal finish. Sophia Marie Sabater showcased leadership and energy in Women’s Volleyball, helping the team secure an impressive 4th-place finish.

In the mental arena, Ginnelle Borlagdan shined in Chess, securing a Team Gold and representing the college fiercely in individual matches. Meanwhile, in the swimming lanes, Rein Jasmine Sabater. and Aldred Lee Prollamante brought waves of pride—Sabater earning three Bronzes and one Silver in the 200m Individual Medley, 50m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke, and 100m Butterfly respectively, while Prollamante contributed as a Mixed Relay Freestyle finisher, ranking 5th.

As the week-long BU Olympics 2025 came to a close, Bicol University Polangui Team Orens once again proved its strength and spirit, securing the 1st Runner-Up spot with an impressive 529 points. The BU Institute of Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation (IPESR) claimed the title of Overall Champion with 1,344 points, while the BU College of Business, Economics, and Management (CBEM) followed closely as 2nd Runner-Up with 516 points.

Beyond medals and standings, however, the journey of the Animathletes stands as a story of heart, creativity, and camaraderie—artists who traded sketchpads for sports gear, yet carried the same passion that fuels their craft. With every game and every cheer, they painted a portrait of pride for Bicol University Polangui—the home of multi-talented individuals—reminding everyone that true champions create, compete, and inspire.

The sound of cheers echoed through the campus as the much-awaited Intramurals 2025 unfolded at Bicol University last October 1–3. For three days, the grounds transformed into a vibrant arena of passion, grit, and sportsmanship. Among the spirited competitors stood twelve determined students from BSIT Animation 2, representing the Computer Studies Department (CSD)with pride—each ready to carry their colors high and make their mark.

The games began with focus and strategy on day one, as Kenneth Morco and Ginnelle Borlagdan opened the competition in chess. For two days, they battled not just opponents across the board but also the ticking clock and their own nerves. Their perseverance paid off—Borlagdan clinched silver in the women’s individual category and gold in the team event, while Morco earned silver in the men’s team division. It was a quiet yet powerful start that set the tone for the rest of the competition.

As the sun rose on the second day, the campus pulsed with energy. The athletics field became a stage of sweat and speed, where every stride and throw carried the hopes of their department. Maria Princess Shaira Benitez opened with the 100-meter dash, finishing fourth in a thrilling race. Soon after, the javelin throw brought more excitement—Sylvester Dolorito and John Raymund Mendoza fought hard for the men’s division, while Trina Shanelle Vargas dominated the women’s event, hurling her way to a commanding gold.

The momentum didn’t stop there. In shot put, Vargas added another gold to her name, while King Carlos Retis placed eighth in the men’s division. Then came the long jump—a true showcase of determination. Mark Anthony Millare soared to gold in the men’s division, while Benitez mirrored her success in the women’s, securing her first gold. Francine Phoemela Binaday proudly took bronze, followed closely by Elaine Rada. The triple jump sealed the athletics triumph, with Millare and Benitez leaping to gold once more in men's and women's respectively, and Rada claiming third in women's despite a foul attempt.

Beyond the tracks, the energy continued to rise. On the court, Sophia Marie Sabater led the CSD volleyball team with focus and fire, steering them through decisive wins that earned a place in the semifinals. Over at the gymnasium, Mary Joy Bobis showed agility and precision in table tennis, capturing silver for the department alongside her partner.

As the final day arrived, fatigue mixed with pride. Though the CSD volleyball team faced tough losses and narrowly missed a podium finish, their resilience never wavered—each serve, block, and spike spoke of teamwork and heart.

When the dust finally settled and the medals were tallied, the Computer Studies Department emerged as overall champion once again—securing back-to-back titles with an impressive total of 12 golds, 7 silvers, and 5 bronzes. Contributing to this victory, the BSIT Animation 2 delegation proudly delivered 7 golds, 3 silvers, and 2 bronzes, proving that unity and determination can indeed turn the tide of competition.

Their stellar performances didn’t just shine within the department—they also earned spots in the Bicol University Olympics this late October 2025. Representing the Bicol University Polangui are Mark Anthony Millare (men's long jump, triple jump, and 110m hurdles), King Carlos Retis (men's javelin throw, shot put), Maria Princess Shaira Benitez (women's long and triple jump), Ginnelle Borlagdan (women's chess), Sophia Marie Sabater (women's volleyball), and Trina Shanelle Vargas (discuss, javelin throw, shot put, and softball).

Although swimming wasn’t part of this year’s Intramurals because of the lack of facilities, Aldred Lee Prollamante and Rein Jasmine Sabater still secured spots in the Bicol University Olympics, proving their dedication to the sport runs deeper than the water itself.

Despite facing communication challenges along the way, the department never allowed these obstacles to break their spirit. Instead, it fueled their resolve to move as one—to cheer louder, play harder, and lift each other higher. Their journey throughout the Intramurals was not just about medals won, but about bonds strengthened and lessons learned.

In the end, it wasn’t just a victory for CSD—it was a defining moment for BSIT Animation 2. With every challenge faced and every idea brought to life, they proved that when passion meets purpose, even the toughest scenes can turn into masterpieces.
