From the entire team at Greenroots, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your continued support. We are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you who chooses to visit our café. Your presence makes our cafe a vibrant and welcoming space, and we truly appreciate you being a part of our community.
To all our friends and families who have been supporting us from day one, our wonderful neighbours in Landan/Maligo and to all of you that created incredible post, reels and photos just proved the power and importance of social media in enabling global awareness, connectivity and communication. We can’t thank you enough.
A small story behind this café…Me and my partner have worked within the industry for many years. I’ve been away for nearly 20 years and recently came back to show, connect and immerse my children in their Filipino Roots. As months passed by we decided to start a small project growing it from the bottom up.
One of our main goal is to provide jobs and opportunities within the community. All of the team are from Barangay Landan and Maligo. Most of them have no experience when they first started. It may be a challenge but we also see this as a life changing moment for everyone. To be able to share with them what we have learned and hopefully motivate them to do the same to others is a big win for us.
The idea behind it is to start a movement that will create a positive impact within the community. It is highly inspired from the African philosophy, UBUNTU. I am because we are. The belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity. We aim to inspire and motivate Landan and its surroundings as a beautiful tourist destination with quality and afforable dining experience.
Now as a café, we aim for our visitors to disconnect from their busy lives, connect with nature, prioritise self-care and spend quality time with their family, friends, furry companions and loved ones. We also aim to create a sustainable, ethical and quality offerings. From sourcing tomatoes locally which we cook and turn into our homemade sauce for the Nachos, to growing our herbs and baking using our farm fresh eggs (when the hens feel like laying tons).
In essence, we want to create a space to be yourself and with nature. Down to earth & simple, emphasizes on a casual, unpretentious atmosphere, focusing on quality ingredients and a relaxed vibe.
Now that’s not much of a short story I guess…Again we are extremely grateful for everyone's support and we also deeply apologize for those we have let down. We are still in our soft opening phase and everything just happened way faster than expected. It is not an excuse and we are really sorry if we’ve missed on a lot of things but the team are dedicated to constantly learn and improve.
