Led by SSLG President Brain John Pico, the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) of New Cebu High School successfully conducted its first Executive Committee (ExeCom) Meeting today, May 15, 2026, at the SSLG Office of New Cebu HS.

Centered on the council’s preparations for the upcoming Brigada Eskwela Kick-off, the meeting served as a platform for officers to discuss plans, strategies, and initiatives for the opening of classes.

One of the major highlights discussed was the return of “FUNSAYA BALIK ESKWELA,” a flagship SSLG program that has been practiced for the past three years. The program primarily aims to encourage and inspire learners to return to school through engaging and student-centered activities.

For its fourth season this year, the SSLG plans to make the program more interactive, inclusive, and meaningful for the student community.

With strengthened preparations and collaborative leadership under the leadership of President Brain John Pico, the SSLG of New Cebu High School is now fully geared and ready for the opening of classes.

𝘿𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙚𝙩𝙚 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙉𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙨 𝙄𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣 — A new generation of purpose-driven leaders has risen as the NC High Delegates of the National SACEDA Youth Lead Program officially received their Certificates of Completion at Bethel Guest House.

The program gathered exceptional youth leaders from across regions, immersing them in a transformative journey anchored not only in leadership development but also in global citizenship. Throughout the week, delegates engaged in dynamic workshops, collaborative challenges, and reflective sessions designed to strengthen their skills, values, and vision.

Central to this year’s training was a strong alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)—particularly Goal #4: Quality Education and Goal #16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Delegates were equipped with the knowledge and tools to advocate for inclusive and equitable education, while also fostering leadership rooted in integrity, justice, and peacebuilding within their communities.

The live-in format deepened the experience, encouraging discipline, teamwork, and meaningful connections among participants. Beyond technical learning, the program cultivated empathy, ethical leadership, and a shared commitment to nation-building.

The journey reached its pinnacle during the awarding and closing ceremony held at Bethel Guest House, where delegates stood united in celebration of their growth and accomplishments. The ceremony was marked by powerful reflections, messages of inspiration from mentors, and a collective sense of readiness to take on greater responsibilities.

Each certificate awarded symbolized more than the completion of a program—it represented a commitment to advancing education, promoting justice, and becoming catalysts for sustainable change.

Organizers praised the NC High Delegates for embodying the true spirit of leadership—resilient, visionary, and grounded in service. As they step beyond this milestone, they carry with them not only the lessons of the past seven days but also the global mission to uphold the values of quality education and peaceful, inclusive societies.

This moment signals the beginning of a larger movement—one where empowered youth leaders rise to transform communities, strengthen institutions, and contribute to a future defined by knowledge, equity, and lasting peace.

𝙉𝘾 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙎𝙎𝙇𝙂 𝙅𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙨 28𝙩𝙝 𝙎𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙙𝙖 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥 𝙞𝙣 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙖.

The SSLG NC-HIGH landed in Cebu on April 19 to take part in the 28th edition of the Saceda Youth Lead Summer Camp in Valencia, Negros Island Region. Carrying with them the experiences they’ve gained as student leaders, Team NC High brings passion, resilience, and a strong commitment to service.

This 7-day live-in training will immerse them in meaningful activities designed to strengthen their leadership, teamwork, and community engagement. It also serves as a valuable cultural exchange, allowing participants to share traditions, perspectives, and experiences while learning from fellow youth leaders from different communities.

With hearts ready to learn and minds eager to grow, they aim to build lasting connections and represent their school with pride. They are expected to complete the training requirements on April 27—returning as more empowered and transformative leaders for their communities

The President-elect of NC-High, 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗼, formally accepted the key of responsibility during the 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 awarding ceremony, marking the official transition to a new student leadership administration.

The symbolic turnover took place shortly after outgoing 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝗵𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝘇 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝘅𝗮𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 delivered his State of the Learners Address, highlighting the accomplishments and challenges of the past term.

In his acceptance speech, Pico emphasized unity and active participation among students, stating,
"𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵, 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘦—𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘺𝘰 𝘢𝘬𝘰.” He underscored his commitment to collaborative leadership, inviting fellow learners to take part in shaping the school’s direction.

The turnover ceremony signifies the beginning of Pico’s administration, setting the tone for a leadership focused on inclusivity, shared responsibility, and student engagement.

President Pico will now serve as the voice of learners across 17 schools throughout the entire municipality, representing the aspirations, concerns, and leadership of the student body.
