MINING ENGINEERS CONVENTION — MinECon 2026 Puerto Princesa spotlights sustainable mining innovations
The Mining Engineers’ Convention 2026 (MinECon 2026) officially opened on June 9 with the launch of exhibits at Costa Palawan Resort, bringing together mining professionals, government officials, and industry stakeholders from across the country for a four-day gathering focused on sustainable mineral development.
With the theme “Engineering the Future: Sustainable Minerals for a Resilient Nation,” the convention opened its exhibit hall showcasing technologies, programs, and initiatives aimed at promoting responsible mining and improved resource management practices in the Philippines.
The exhibit opening marked the formal start of the national convention organized by the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers (PSEM), which serves as a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and policy and technical discussions within the mining sector.
Puerto Princesa City Administrator Atty. Arnel M. Pedrosa attended the opening program, delivering a message of support for initiatives that balance resource development with environmental protection and community welfare.
Exhibitors include mining companies, service providers, regulatory agencies, and industry partners presenting innovations in engineering practices, environmental safeguards, and community development programs linked to mining operations.
Organizers said the event is designed to strengthen partnerships among stakeholders while promoting responsible and future-oriented approaches to mineral development amid evolving industry challenges.
Delegates from various sectors nationwide are expected to participate in technical sessions and networking activities throughout the June 9 to 12 convention, which highlights sustainability, innovation, and resilience in the Philippine mining industry.
