My GTA JOURNEY: A DREAM THAT CONTINUES TO UNFOLD
I am deeply grateful and overjoyed to share that I received three awards at the Division Gawad Teodora Storybook Writing Competition held last October 7, 2025 at the LRMDC Building, Mateo Jagmis MES Compound, Brgy. San Manuel, Puerto Princesa City.
This year, I was blessed with the following recognitions:
2nd Place-Chapter Books for Grades 9&10
"Si Amihan at Ang Hiraya"
2nd Place-Local Tangibles Category
"Ang Tanggar sa Bundok ng Salakot"
3rd Place- Gender and Development Category
"Ang Bestidang P**a"
This is only my second year joining the teacher category. Last year, during my very first attempt, I won 2nd Place in the Storybook for Grade 5 Category with my story "Nang Manghuli si Nayang ng mga Gipo-Gipo". It was even illustrated by the award-winning artist Sir Ric Arcasitas of Oriental Mindoro. The story reached Top 9 in the GTA Regional Storybook Writing Competition, though only the Top 3 moved on to nationals.
Back then, I didn't expect to be chosen at all. I simply wanted to experience the contest and share a piece of my heart, stories inspired by the rich culture of my community, Napsan. I've loved writing since I was young, and GTA became a beautiful opportunity to finally let others read my work.
This year, I challenged myself even more. I wrote four stories, with three making it to the Division Top 3, two advancing to the Regional Level, and one currently competing at the National Level. Writing while teaching, especially creating a chapter book requiring 10,000 words and more, meant countless late nights and tired mornings. But my passion pushed me through.
With the support of my loved ones, the unwavering encouragement of my husband Sir Vince Pangan, and the guidance, wisdom, and strength from the Lord, I poured my whole heart into every story. I'm truly grateful that the judges saw the value, culture, and lessons I wanted to share.
And today, I celebrate not just these awards, but the journey itself. My family, the NNHS Family, and my friends are truly happy and proud of this milestone, and their joy makes this achievement even more meaningful. 🥹❤️😇
