Kids are still acting like kids, these days!

been 5 days.. since Spain 🇪🇸 took the World Cup. Here I was watching the first half from the hotel lobby and these kids said: “you takin a video!? Can we join??” HAHA 😆 VERY PINOY CODED. Kids everywhere in the world are still being kids, that’s a sigh of relief 🫶🏼🌎

Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. on Monday dismissed Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Jing Quan’s proposal to establish a common fishing area in Bajo de Masinloc or Scarborough Shoal, saying the Philippines was “not born yesterday” and describing the move as a public relations stunt.

Teodoro stressed that the country’s fishing rights are already recognized under the landmark 2016 Arbitral Award.

Balikatan 2026 spokesperson Colonel Dennis Hernandez confirms that the United States’ Typhon Mid-Range Capability (MRC) missile system has been fired for the first time since it arrived in the Philippines in April 2024.

The MRC was used early Tuesday morning to launch a Tomahawk land attack missile from Tacloban Airport. The missile hit the target in Laur, Nueva Ecija—around 630 kilometers away.

According to Hernandez, while the MRC is an asset of the US Army, Filipino soldiers actively participated in the operation.

A year later today—and I still feel the hype about this exact week. ✨

There’s something about posting a win the moment it happens that never felt right with me. Too fresh. Like you’re still catching your breath but already reaching for the caption. So I waited.

More than a year into my journey with FILSCAP, I think it’s finally time.🩵

In April 2025, we hosted the 𝐂𝐈𝐒𝐀𝐂 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚-𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 at Conrad Manila. Two full days. High-level meetings. Right smack in the middle of the 𝟔𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐈𝐋𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐏. 🤯 Other affiliate societies flew in from across the region and the world: CISAC Paris (France), WAMI (Indonesia), VCPMC (Vietnam), MÜST (Taiwan), MCSC (China), MACA (Macau), KOMCA (South Korea), JASRAC (Japan), CASH (Hong Kong), IPRS (India), COMPASS (Singapore), and MCT (Thailand). 🌏

The days leading up to it? High stress. Low sleep. This was the kind of week that gets remembered and talked about for years, it’s the same kind of week that tests whether you actually love the job or just love the idea of it.

And I genuinely loved it. 😌

What struck me most wasn’t the pressure. It was watching everything come together …the logistics, the diplomacy, the sheer coordination it takes to put that many key players in one room — and realizing I was witnessing FILSCAP at its highest level. I wasn’t just part of the staff. I was a spectator learning from some of the best operators in the industry, up close. 🎯

The agenda for the week matched the weight of the moment: AI lobbying, registration of AI-generated works, CIS-Net 2.0, regional licensing frameworks. These weren’t ordinary talking points. They were decisions that will move the needle for music creators across Asia-Pacific for years to come.🫡

I was five months in at my first ever corporate job when this all happened. Five months. And somehow, between the chaos and the calendar blocks and the sleepless nights, I found myself thinking 🤔.. 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮 what I thought “my job” should be.

Not just the social media & content curation side of things. But the management. The strategy. The policy-making. The high level aspect of the copyright & publishing industry. The business behind the music. All of it. 🏆
