Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Mobile Suit Gundam, has written a strongly worded column in the May 2026 issue of Animage expressing concern about rising global tensions and the possibility of another world war.

In the piece, Tomino reflects on his lifetime experience and conversations with survivors connected to Hiroshima and academic circles, saying the current global climate feels like a “tipping point” due to ongoing conflicts and the presence of nuclear weapons.

He also revisits a long-running frustration: that the anti-war themes embedded in Gundam are often misunderstood or reduced to entertainment. Tomino argues that even within the fan community, the deeper message about the cost of war is sometimes overlooked or dismissed.

The column references modern geopolitical flashpoints, including the war in Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East, framing them as signs of a fragile global balance.

As a lifelong hardcore PlayStation fan, I’ve supported this brand through every generation, from the original PlayStation to the PS5. But being a fan doesn’t mean blindly agreeing with every decision. When I think Sony is moving in an anti-consumer direction, I’m going to say it.

The all-digital future is inevitable. I accepted that a long time ago. Digital downloads are more convenient, and there’s no denying that’s where the industry is headed. But deciding to completely stop producing game discs removes an important choice from players.

Not every gamer has access to fast, affordable, or unlimited internet. In many parts of the world, downloading games that are well over 100GB isn’t as simple as pressing a button. For those players, a physical disc isn’t just a collectible. It is often the most practical way to access and play games.

Physical media also gives consumers options. You can lend games to friends, buy them secondhand, sell them after finishing them, or hunt for better deals at retail. Those choices help make gaming more affordable, especially as game prices continue to rise.

I understand why Sony is making this move. Digital distribution reduces manufacturing and shipping costs, simplifies logistics, and gives publishers greater control over pricing and distribution. From a business standpoint, it makes sense.

But what makes sense for a business doesn’t always create the best experience for consumers.
The future of gaming can absolutely be digital. My issue isn’t with digital itself. My issue is with eliminating the alternative. Giving players a choice has always been the better approach, and taking that choice away feels like a step backward for consumer freedom.

I’ll always be a PlayStation fan. That’s exactly why I’m willing to criticize decisions like this. Supporting a brand doesn’t mean defending everything it does. It means wanting it to do better for the people who made it successful in the first place.

The ASUS ExpertBook Ultra is officially my new standard for what a flagship business laptop should feel like. It weighs just starting at 0.99kg, measures 10.9mm thin, and fits a 14-inch 3K Tandem OLED touchscreen running at variable 120Hz with up to 1,400 nits of brightness into a 9H ASUS Nano Ceramic Technology that's built to US military-grade durability standards with up to 24 procedures.

Under the hood, you get an up to Intel Core Ultra X9 Series 3 processor with 50 TOPS of NPU performance, 64GB LPDDR5X-8533 RAM, and 2TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD, and a 70Wh battery with up to 26 hours battery life in single charge that actually holds its own throughout the day.

The experience using this thing is smoother than any Windows laptop I've touched before, and for the first time in years, I genuinely had to pause before giving my usual automatic laptop recommendation. The ASUS ExpertBook Ultra changed the answer, and I don't say that lightly.

If there's just one reason why I've come to consider gaming outside of my cute "little" handheld consoles, it'd be because of these guys. Never did I imagine taking part in the ROG journey, and yet here we are. Happy 20th founding anniversary, Republic of Gamers!

ASUS ExpertBook P5 G2 - Brawn, Brain, & Beauty - The ASUS ExpertBook P5 G2 (PM5406CGA) is proof that you don't have to choose between a gorgeous screen and a build that can actually take a hit! It’s surprisingly tough for something this sleek, rocking MIL-STD 810H military-grade durability alongside a stunning 14-inch OLED display.

On the inside, it’s packing some serious heat with up to an AMD Ryzen™ AI 9 HX processor and 50+ NPU TOPS, so it handles AI tasks and heavy workloads like a total pro! Best of all, it only weighs about 1.27kg, meaning you get that high-end vibe without feeling like you’re carrying a fragile glass ornament around. It’s basically the ultimate "no-compromise" workhorse for anyone who needs to stay mobile without worrying about every little bump!
