🗺 Oil spill extent map in Manila Bay

The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) has generated a map showing the extent of the possible oil spill in Manila Bay due to the sinking of MT Terra Nova. The tanker’s location shown on the map was sourced from information dated 25 July 2024, at 12:21 AM Philippine Standard Time (PhST).

Oil spill extents from the RCM-2 satellite image captured 26 July 2024 at 5:40 AM PhST was retrieved from the International Charter Space and Major Disasters or the Disasters Charter.

AMA University’s Student Council hosted the Year-End Party last 20 December 2023 at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel. Attendees celebrated the start of a new academic year with joyous hearts and a spirit of togetherness. The ballroom was adorned with vibrant lights and decorations and also had the unmistakable scent of pine and cinnamon which exuded an ambiance of warmth and comfort.

Kicking off with an ice-breaker and a series of interactive games and competitions, a sense of community and belongingness was starting to be fostered among the students and faculty. Then, a scrumptious dinner of traditional roasts and mouthwatering desserts was partaken by everyone. The sharing of stories and singing of carols capped the evening of merriment filled with the essence of the holiday season.

The decision to host a Year-End Party outside the campus proved to be a resounding success as it will be a cherished memory by everyone long after the season has passed.

Last August 2023, AMA University (AMAU) began a ground-breaking partnership with Alibaba Cloud, a well-known global leader in artificial intelligence and cloud computing technologies. This collaboration signifies a major leap for AMAU as it gains access to cutting-edge technology and cloud computing expertise, allowing its students to delve into these rapidly advancing fields. This partnership not only elevates the students’ quality of education but also equips them with vital skills essential for success in today’s digital-centric world.

AMAU also formalized a partnership last 24 October 2023 with CompTIA USA. This is a subsequent stride towards enhancing the quality of education and professional opportunities for its students because CompTIA is a well-respected IT certification organization that offers industry-standard certification programs and resources. This partnership ensures that students can access globally recognized certifications, bolstering their qualifications and employability in the IT sector.

AMAU is also committed to providing its students with a broad global outlook and a variety of educational opportunities not only locally, but also abroad. With this, AMAU has partnered with prestigious foreign universities and colleges, such as the King’s Own Institute (KOI) and Ashton College of Australia, in the fields of faculty development, collaborative research projects, and student exchange programs to enhance the students’ educational experience. These collaborations not only augment the academic prowess of the university but also create a platform for cultural exchange, fostering cross- cultural understanding and global networking. The partnerships with institutions in Australia, a nation known for its high-quality education system, expand the horizons of the students, ensuring that they receive a well-rounded education with a global perspective.

AMAU’s Alumni Placement and Linkages Office has been actively fostering foreign collaborations to enhance the educational experience of its students, thereby providing substantial assistance to the University’s internationalization efforts. These recent international collaborations underscore AMAU’s unwavering commitment to providing a world-class education that is not only globally competitive but also adaptable to the ever-evolving demands of the 21st century. Through these alliances, the university is actively fostering a dynamic and globally connected educational environment, preparing its students for success on a global scale.
