Sa bisa ng memorandum of understanding (MOU) sa pagitan ng Department of Education (DepEd), Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Commission on Higher Education (CHED), at Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), ituturo na ang 'peace education' sa mga paaralan sa bansa.
Makikipagtulungan si Education Secretary Sonny Angara sa tatlong ahensiya para sa pagpapahusay ng mga larangan ng policy at program development, capacity development, curriculum at resource development, data research at knowledge sharing, at advocacy at social mobilization.
Para sa kalihim, ang hakbang na ito ay bilang suporta sa pambansang pamahalaan na iwasan ang pang-aabuso, karahasan, at mas malawak na epekto ng digmaan sa bansa.
Isasama ang peace education sa mga subject na Makabansa, Araling Panlipunan, Science, Physical Education and Health, Values Education, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE), at Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC).
“Education is more than just transferring knowledge; it is a catalyst for peace in our communities,” saad ni Secretary Sonny.
