Erwin Macua worked as a security guard for 17 years while pursuing his dream of finishing college. Despite working night shifts and supporting his family, he graduated cm laude, passed the LET, and eventually became a teacher at the same school where he once guarded the gate.

A mother became disappointed when her Grade 1 son received mostly grades in the 70s. She scolded him, but later realized that grades did not reflect the qualities that made her son special.

Despite struggling academically, her son showed remarkable kindness, generosity, empathy, and willingness to help others—sharing his food, giving money to a classmate, and helping an injured classmate write.

When he told his mother that he prayed for Jesus to make him smarter so she wouldn't be angry and even called himself “bobo,” she realized how deeply her expectations had affected him. She apologized and reminded him that his grades do not determine his worth.

The story reminds parents that a report card measures academic performance, but it cannot fully measure character, kindness, compassion, or the person a child is becoming.

Sometimes, the most important things a child learns cannot be found on a report card. 💙
