SMILE MEDIA GROUP OFFICIAL STATEMENT
We are once again addressing the unauthorized use of SMILE Media Group and NewsRadio Philippines names, logos, and branding by Dominique Canio (aka Doms Canio, Dominique Resuma Canio, and Toto Dominique.)
We recently became aware of another poster created and circulated by Mr. Canio that uses the official logos of SMILE Media Group and NewsRadio Philippines without the knowledge or authorization of our management.
To be clear: Mr. Canio is not authorized to represent SMILE Media Group NewsRadio Philippines, or any of our programs, personnel, or operations.
This is not the first time this has happened. We have previously communicated directly with Mr. Canio and formally asked him to stop using our names and branding in a way that could suggest an official affiliation. Despite that notice, another unauthorized material has been produced.
We have also reached out to his family in an effort to resolve this matter privately and peacefully, but we have not yet received a response.
We have also documented a broader pattern in which Mr. Canio has presented himself as affiliated with various media networks and has promoted purported radio stations in Himamaylan, Negros Occidental. Based on our verification, these claimed affiliations and stations could not be independently established as legitimate operating media organizations. Mr. Canio is likewise NOT AN AUTHORIZED MEMBER, REPORTER, CORRESPONDENT, OR REPRESENTATIVE OF SMILE MEDIA GROUP OR NEWSRADIO PHILIPPINES.
We understand that Mr. Canio may have personal circumstances that affect how he understands or responds to situations like this. However, those circumstances do not authorize anyone to use our identity, represent our organizations, or disregard formal notices. Everyone is expected to respect the law and be accountable for actions that may violate the rights of others or applicable laws.
Our concern is not his interest in media, journalism, radio, or broadcasting. We welcome people who support and follow our work. The issue is the repeated representation of an affiliation that does not exist.
We therefore remind the public that the use of our logos does not mean that a person or material is officially affiliated with SMILE Media Group or NewsRadio Philippines. Please verify any claimed affiliation through our official channels.
We are documenting this latest incident and will take appropriate steps to protect our brands, our people, and our organizational identity.
