Today should have been a win for students, PWDs, and seniors, the groups who need these fare discounts the most. Instead, it turned into another day of waiting and disappointment.

At Light Rail Manila Corporation Fernando Poe Jr. Station, not a single concessionary beep card™ was issued until past noon, even though Department of Transportation - Philippines announced distribution would start at 10 AM. Station staff admitted they did not have the cards because they were still being held at LRT Central Station.

This rollout was already delayed once, from September 15 to September 20 due to “recalibration.” After all that waiting, commuters came prepared and hopeful, only to be met with poor coordination and more delays.

Students, PWDs, and seniors deserve better. They should not have to waste their time, energy, and patience for a program that was supposed to ease their daily commute.
