𝐀𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 "𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐲 𝐈𝐤𝐚𝐰"
Among Avel Mosa's compositions, 𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐲 𝐈𝐤𝐚𝐰 became one of my favorites. Avel has explored different genres throughout his musical journey, but this song reminded me why I think he fits best as a balladeer.
Teaming up with Johlan Demeterial, Avel delivers a moving tribute that celebrates the unconditional love, sacrifices, and strength of every mother. Avel shared that he met Johlan Demeterial during a guesting on Kantahan Na on Radyo Aguila (NET 25). Their conversation about a possible collaboration eventually led to Lahat Ay Ikaw, inspired by Johlan's mother, who approached Avel with the idea of writing a song dedicated to mothers.
What immediately stood out to me was the sincerity of the songwriting. The lyrics feel like scenes from a classic Filipino family teleserye. It's relatable, genuine, and heartfelt.
It's touching that I remembered every sacrifices my mom made for me.
I love this part, "𝙎𝙖 𝙗𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙪𝙝𝙖 𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙡, 𝙞𝙠𝙖𝙬 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙠𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙖𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣. 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙪𝙠𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙤 𝙖𝙮 𝙠𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙨𝙞𝙠𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙣."
Behind our achievements is a mother who prayed for us, believed in us, and continued to support us even during difficult times.
Johlan Demeterial sings with clarity and emotion, bringing warmth and sincerity to every line. Her voice has a youthful charm that reminded me of Zephanie.
Avel also showed noticeable growth as a vocalist. His performance feels more confident and emotionally connected, making the song's message even more effective.
Special credit also goes to Stephen Tan of Metro East Records for the arrangement. The instrumentation supports the story beautifully without overshadowing the lyrics. The song has the familiar feels of the OPM ballads that many Filipinos grew up listening to during the late 90s and early 2000s. It feels nostalgic while still sounding relevant today.
I also appreciate the song's dynamics. It has the makings of a strong contest piece because it allows both vocal power and emotional storytelling to shine.
The arrangement builds naturally toward an emotional high point without feeling forced.
What I enjoyed most was how the song ends softly after reaching its peak. Instead of an overly dramatic finish, it leaves listeners with a warm, comforting feeling that perfectly reflects a mother's gentle, enduring love.
𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐲 𝐈𝐤𝐚𝐰 succeeds because of its heart. Its strength comes from its honesty. The song reminds us of the people who loved us first and continue to stand by us no matter where life takes us.
I can easily imagine this song being featured in a teleserye, a family-centered film, or even becoming a Mother's Day staple. Its message is timeless, and its emotional sincerity makes it easy to revisit long after the song ends.
Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐲 𝐈𝐤𝐚𝐰 is a heartfelt OPM ballad that honors mothers with warmth, sincerity, and gratitude. Through touching lyrics, strong vocal performances, and a nostalgic arrangement, Avel Mosa and Johlan Demeterial deliver a song that serves as a beautiful reminder to appreciate the women who sacrificed so much to help us become who we are today.
