DEAR PARENTS,

These recent incidents the death of a teacher for failing a student, and the brutal assault of an elementary boy by high school students—are heartbreaking reminders of the deep cracks in our values as a community. They show how easily anger and pride can grow into violence when respect, compassion, and dialogue are absent.

A teacher’s role is to guide, correct, and prepare students for life, even when lessons are hard to accept. Taking a life because of an unfavorable grade is not only an injustice, but also a failure to see education as a gift, not a battle. Similarly, the cruelty toward a young child by older students reveals how bullying and lack of empathy can leave physical and emotional wounds that may last a lifetime.

These events challenge us to look closely at the values we are teaching in our homes, schools, and communities. Respect for life, peaceful conflict resolution, and empathy must be at the core of our daily interactions. If we fail to plant these seeds early, we risk raising a generation that sees violence as a solution.

May these tragedies awaken us to protect not just the bodies, but the dignity and hearts of everyone especially the young. Let us work together so that our schools remain places of learning, not fear, and our communities become safe grounds where kindness is stronger than hate.
