BAHAIN NG PROTESTA: People’s organizations are protesting in front of the House of Representatives to express indignation over issues of anomalies and corruption in flood control projects. The protest coincides with the budget hearing of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) today, September 5.

Despite the Marcos Jr. administration pouring over ₱545 billion into 9,855 projects, massive flooding continues to ravage communities, leaving thousands of Filipinos questioning where the money and projects really went, while contractors and government personnel enjoy lavish lifestyle.

Justice remains elusive for the Filipino comfort women during the Japanese occupation. It is the central theme of the discussion organized by Concerned Artists of the Philippines (CAP) and University of the Philippines (UP) Fine Arts Gallery Parola, in partnership with Lila Pilipina and Probe Archives on September 3.

"My mother died without achieving justice," said Elizabeth Atillo-Dy, daughter of the comfort woman Estelita Dy, in Filipino. “We continue the fight she left for us. We will continue to search for justice so it will not happen to other people again.”

KURAKOT PANAGUTIN, DISCAYA IKULONG: People's organizations storm St. Gerrard Construction Company's office at Pasig City, to condemn the failure of flood-control projects due to corruption involving Sara Discaya.

Daniel Fabellon of AGHAM Youth expressed dissent to the corruption, affecting many Filipinos. "Alam niyo ang problema? Isa lang si Discaya sa napakaraming mga contructor na nagpapakasasa habang tayong mga mamamayan ang naghihirap kumakayod para lang sa pamilya."

From July 2022 to May 2025, the Marcos government implemented nearly 9,900 flood control projects worth 545.6 billion pesos. St. Gerrard Construction Company, is just one of the many involved in these failed projects.

Government records from the SumbongSaPangulo website show that 853 flood control projects have supposedly been completed in Bicol since 2022, including 273 in Albay, 252 in Camarines Sur, and 125 in Sorsogon, yet these provinces remain severely flood-stricken as seen during last year’s typhoons.
