Adamson standouts power RP Blu Girls; heavy rain ends medal hopes
The Adamson Softbelles’ campaign with the RP Blu Girls in the 2025 Women’s Softball Asia Cup ended abruptly due to inclement weather, yesterday in Xi’an, China.
Officials called off the final day of the tournament, including the national team’s bronze medal match against Chinese Taipei, after the field was deemed unplayable.
Consequently, the organizers based the final standings on round-robin results, which placed the Philippines fourth and cost them a World Cup ticket.
Moreover, Japan, China, and Chinese Taipei were the top three teams awarded with World Cup berths.
Current Adamson players Roma Jane Cruz, Ma. Victoria Magbanua, April Mae Minanga, Glory Alonzo, and Jhaycel Roldan played pivotal roles for the Philippine Women’s Softball Team.
Despite missing the podium, Cruz recorded the highest home run count throughout the competition, while the national team secured a slot in the 2026 Asian Games.
Meanwhile, graduating players MJ Maguad and Alaiza Talisik suited up for the national squad, alongside alumna Angelu Gabriel, who brought veteran presence to the roster.
Together with the RP Blu Girls, the Adamson Softbelles eye a stronger finish in next year’s Asian tournament set to kick off in September 2026 in Nagoya, Japan.
