Carmen NHS Strengthens Disaster Preparedness Through Successful Nationwide Earthquake Drill

CARMEN, June 18, 2026 – Demonstrating its strong commitment to safety and disaster preparedness, Carmen National High School actively participated in the Second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2026, with both the Junior High School and Senior High School Departments successfully carrying out separate earthquake response exercises yesterday afternoon.

In support of the nationwide campaign carrying the messages “Bawat Segundo Mahalaga” and “Ligtas ang Bayan Kung Handa ang Mamamayan,” the Junior High School Department commenced the drill at exactly 3:45 PM. A total of 178 JHS students, teachers, and personnel participated in the exercise, responding with discipline, seriousness, and a clear understanding of the importance of disaster preparedness.

During the opening program, School Principal Job F. Mallorca underscored the significance of readiness in the face of natural disasters.

"We must never take this phenomenon lightly," he emphasized. "Earthquakes occur without warning. Understanding the risks and knowing the proper response can save lives when such events happen."

Thanks to the careful planning and guidance of DRRM Coordinator Sir Ramoncito A. Galicia and Assistant DRRM Coordinator Ronnie M. Fetalvero, the activity flowed smoothly and systematically. They were ably assisted by Science teachers Ma’am Marvee Klareen M. Robiso, Sir Von Cristian B. Moral, and Sir Alquin M. Fabella, who helped supervise the proper ex*****on of safety procedures.

Following the alarm signal, participants promptly performed the standard “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure before proceeding to the designated evacuation area in a calm and orderly manner.

At 4:35 PM, the Senior High School Department conducted its own earthquake drill under the supervision of class advisers and subject teachers. The separate schedule allowed for effective monitoring and ensured that students were given adequate guidance in practicing proper emergency response procedures.

The successful participation of both Junior and Senior High School Departments reflected the school's collective dedication to fostering a culture of preparedness, resilience, and safety. The activity also echoed the advocacy of Civil Defense PH in promoting disaster awareness and community readiness.

CARMEN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL – On the second day of the Opening Block during the first week of classes, a systematic and organized Group Assessment was conducted for learners from Grade 7 to 10, covering the subjects of English and Mathematics.

The activity was spearheaded and successfully implemented by the dedicated faculty members of the English Department: Sir Vincent F. Manzo (Grade 7), Ma’am Sheenna Lee M. Fregon (Grades 8 & 9), and Ma’am Ma. Cristina F. Mazo (Grade 10). Meanwhile, the Mathematics Department team was composed of Ma’am Ochin G. Barcelona (Grade 7), Sir Ronnie M.
