Girl Scouts' Week - Day 7: Survival Day
💚🌲Exploring, Dicovering, and Learning🌿💚
The Survival Day Camp marked the conclusion of the Girl Scouts' Week Celebration, held at the scenic Montojo’s Place, set in Calvary Hills, Bagacay, Romblon. This memorable event began with a solemn prayer, setting the tone for a day dedicated to learning, teamwork, and adventure. The girls were then oriented on outdoor hiking, preparing them for the challenges ahead. The first activity, Treasure Hunting from RNHS to Calvary Hills, saw the participants exploring the natural surroundings in search of hidden treasures, encouraging both critical thinking and collaboration. At 9:15 AM, the girls transitioned into Basic Survival Skills, where they learned essential techniques for wilderness survival, covering topics such as fire-making, shelter-building, and finding food in nature. By 10:00 AM, the girls were ready to apply these skills through hands-on exercises, building shift shelters, cooking outdoors, knot tying, and demonstrating their newly acquired knowledge.
The afternoon session, beginning at 1:00 PM, provided a thoughtful reflection on the values and principles that define Girl Scouting. The Review of Girl Scouting focused on the Girl Scout Promise and Law, Motto, Slogan, Handshake, and traditional Girl Scout songs, along with practical skills like knot tying and the use of hand and whistle signals. This served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of discipline, respect, and unity in their scouting journey. The day culminated with a Team Building exercise (be someone's eyes) an activity that emphasized the value of trust, communication, and supporting one another, strengthening the sense of sisterhood that Girl Scouting fosters.
This successful day would not have been possible without the generous support and contributions of several individuals and organizations. We express our deepest appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Silvano Malay for graciously hosting the event at their beautiful place. Our heartfelt thanks go to the Troop Leaders and Teachers for their tireless efforts in guiding and encouraging the girls throughout the week. We also extend our sincere gratitude to Sir Jophre R. Galindez, School Principal of Romblon National High School, for his support in allowing the Girl Scouts to conduct this week-long series of activities. A special acknowledgment goes to our Sponsors, including Chief GS Medalist Dainelle Martos, Sir Rhest Mariño, the Romblon Girl Scouts Council Board Officers, and Council Executive May O. Morales, whose generosity made this event a reality. Lastly, we would like to thank the Parents and the Girl Scouts themselves, whose participation, eagerness, and commitment made this celebration truly memorable.
As we close this week of adventure, learning, and camaraderie, we take pride in the growth and development that each Girl Scout has experienced, and we look forward to more opportunities for these young leaders to shine. 🌟
