Spinner Dolphin stranded at Punta Cogon, Roxas City

Around 2 pm today, some residents spotted a spinner dolphin on the shore of Punt1a Cogon. According to the residents, they saw the dolphin jumped however it landed on the shallow part of the sea. Hence, a concerned citizen personally called Gov. Nonoy Contreras for help.

CaPENRO responded after the call of the governor and proceed to the area. CaPENRO also asked Dr. Ari Barcelona for help. After assessing the condition of the dolphin, the team guided the dolphin back to the sea as per Dr Barcelona's instruction. The Punong Barangay of Punta Cogon is also responding to the on going rescue.

Due to the devastating deforestation of forest lands in Capiz, Governor Nonoy Contreras signed Executive No. 15 stating that Capisnons aged 12 years and up should engage in growing 1 million trees to combat climate change for a greener and more resilient Capiz, thus, the formation of the 1M Kahoy Project.

Launched every Provincial Arbor Day in the Province of Capiz on June 25, the 1M Kahoy Project of the Provincial Government thru the Capiz Environment and Natural Resources (CaPENRO) is gathering volunteersโ€” individual, organization, private and public sectors, to join by organizing tree-growing activities throughout the province.
