The Local Government Unit of Pilar, under the leadership of Mayor Arnold Alba Perez , Vice Mayor Antonio "Dodoy" Bargo and Sangguniang Bayan Members formally held the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Pilar Multipurpose Building with Public Transport Terminal (Phase 1) โ€” a significant infrastructure project that will provide a safer, more organized, and convenient transport hub for every Pilareรฑo.

Present during the ceremony were Congressman Howard Guintu, BM Blesilda P. Almalbis, Mr. & Mrs. Homer Guintu, Engr. Cecil Lawrence M. Cruz, District Engineer of the 1st District Engineering Office โ€“ DPWH, Owner of the Marizaloi Construction Firm, Atty. Criselda Heredia, the Punong Barangays of Pilar, personnel of BFP Pilar and PNP Pilar, Dr. Jennifer P. Benliro, Campus Director of CAPSU Pilar Satellite Campus, Mr. Reggie Joey G. Benliro Municipal Administrator together with the Department Heads and Employees of the municipality.

This project serves as a testament to the strong partnership of the LGU with national agencies, private stakeholders, and community leaders in advancing development initiatives for the benefit of the people of Pilar.

[Breaking] Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has been removed from office after the Constitutional Court ruled her guilty of ethical misconduct in the Hun Sen audio case.

[Update] Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai will continue as caretaker premier, with the entire cabinet now serving in a caretaker capacity.

The ruling Pheu Thai Party must now either initiate the parliamentary process to select a new prime minister from the existing candidates or dissolve the House for a new election.

Since Pheu Thai still has its third and final candidate, Chaikasem Nitisiri, the party is likely to proceed with the selection process.

Other potential candidates include:

- Bhumjaithai leader Anutin Charnvirakul
- Ruam Thai Sang Chart leader Pirapan Salirathavibhaga
- Former Democrat Party leader Jurin Laksanawisit

Another unlikely but still viable candidate is Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, the 2014 coup leader and current privy councilor, who is a nominee of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party.

The (SC) ๐˜Œ๐˜ฏ ๐˜‰๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ค, during its sessions on August 19 and 28, 2025 ordered the respondents Senate of the Philippines, House of Representatives, Office of the President, and Commission on Elections, to comment on three separate petitions with prayers for temporary restraining order filed by Romulo B. Macalintal, John Barry T. Tayam, Mystro Yushi P. Fujii et al., within 10 days.

The three petitions were filed with the SC challenging the constitutionality of Republic Act No. 12232 which moved the December 2025 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections to the first Monday of November 2026. The law also allows incumbent Barangay and SK officials to remain in office until November 30, 2026, in a hold-over capacity.

Liga ng Barangay ng Pilipinas and 51 punong barangays also filed a petition to allow them to intervene in G.R. No. E-02002, opposing Macalintalโ€™s petition.

The SC then ordered the three petitions consolidated. It also ordered Macalintal and respondents Senate, et al., to comment on Liga ng Barangayโ€™s petition-in-intervention and opposition within 10 days.

Pilason ang isa ka quarry operator matapos ginluthang sini lamang nga aga, Agosto 27, sa national highway sa banwa sang Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental.

Base sa report sang lokal nga kapulisan, nagluntad ang pagpangluthang pasado las-7:00 sa Omanod, Brgy. San Francisco.

Ang biktima ang ginkilala sa kay Engr. Angelito Uy Mendoza, 58-anyos nga contractor kag residente sang Brgy. Manalongon.

Suno kay Police Captain Edjel Tablate, hepe sang Sta. Catalina Municipal Police Station, nagasakay sa motorsiklo ang biktima nga padulong sa quarry site sa Brgy. San Pedro. Hinali nga gintiro ini sang nagasunod nga suspek nga nagasakay sa motorsiklo nga Honda XRM.

Nakaangkon sang mga pilas sa likod kag paa ang nasambit nga contractor.

Gindala ini sa ospital kag yara na subong sa istable nga kondisyon.

Samtang, wala pa makilala ang suspek kag wala pa mahibaluan ang motibo sa pagpangluthang.
