A PORTRAIT FOR LOLA 🎨👵🏻
LOOK: Romel Dojaylo, an 11-year-old artist from Roxas City, Capiz, created a hyperrealism portrait of his “Lola Marita.”
Dojaylo told the Inquirer that he began painting in 2021, as he was taught by his cousin, John Cyril Dojaylo, who is also an artist. His first masterpiece, a 36 x 48 inches oil on canvas portrait of his grandmother, took him approximately three weeks to complete.
“Gusto ko pong mapasaya si Lola kahit sa [simpleng] paraan lang gamit ang aking talento [...] at sobrang saya n’ya noong nakita niya ‘yung [finished] painting ko sa kanya,” Dojaylo remarked.
Apart from Romel, other members of the Dojaylo family have also been featured online for their hyperrealistic portraits, which they usually share in the Facebook group "Artist's Lounge PH."
