HAPPY CORDILLERA DAY 2024!
MGA AETAS! hehehe
Im an igorot, I don't have a tail, wala akong buntot...
Hey everyone! π As an Igorot, I want to use this platform to address a common misconception: no, we don't have tails! π«
As an Igorot, I deeply respect and admire the Aeta community for their beauty and rich cultural heritage. However, it pains me when our unique identity as Igorots is often misunderstood or disregarded.
Igorots and Aetas are distinct indigenous groups, each with their own histories, traditions, and cultural practices. Itβs disheartening when misconceptions, often perpetuated by media and television, blur these differences and lead to misidentifications. πΊ
Recently, there was an issue where Ms. Karen Davila and Ms. Glenda mentioned on national television that the "Bulul" is from Benguet and is made by Aetas living in Itogon, Benguet. In reality, the "Bulul" is a sacred wooden figure from Ifugao.
To all my fellow Igorots, While itβs frustrating to see these mistakes, let's approach this with a spirit of understanding and education rather than anger. Instead of harboring negative feelings, let's wish that they, and others, learn from this and strive for more accurate representation in the future. π
It's important to recognize and respect the rich diversity within our country's indigenous communities. Every group has its own story, its own struggles, and its own triumphs. πΏ
Let's take a moment to learn and educate ourselves about the various indigenous groups in the Philippines. By doing so, we can honor their heritage and ensure that their unique identities are preserved and respected. πβ€οΈ
