For as long as I can remember, at the foot of the only hill at Cebu’s Gorordo Avenue stood an exceptional Art Deco-style house that was the only one of its kind. So outstanding it was that it was considered (by those who knew its value) as among the unofficial landmarks of the city.

Sharing with you photos from the very first book launch of "Cebu Furniture: A History of Inspiration and Innovation, on March 12, 2012 at GILT, Cebu city. Thank you to everyone who came that night!

On March 13th many of Cebu's furniture manufacturers, designers & those who have come to appreciate the innovations & creations from these crafted artisans came to Charles Streegan's launch of his new book Cebu Furniture | A History of Inspiration & Innovation.

Streegan's book was a tremendous opportunity to flip through the pages of time and appreciate what has placed Cebu's furniture community on the leading edge of design regarded the world over. The evening was made even more memorable as the pages were literally brought to life as many companies identified in Streegan's book made their products available for display. Guests were able to see & interact with many of the pieces over good drinks, cheerful conversation & tasty eats.

Much appreciation & gratitude go out to Detalia Aurora [Efren Sarmiento], Maple & Pine International [Vito Selma], Cosonsa Manufacturing [Pride Sasser], Obra Cebuana Inc [Edwin Rivera], Infini Export Collections [Marguerite Lhuillier], Design Ventures Cebu [Debbie and Gus Palao], Cebu Fil Veneer [Carlo Cordaro], Pacific Traders & Mfg. Corp [Charles Streegan], Dedon Manufacturing Inc [Herve and Vince Lampert], Mehitabel [Bob Booth], La Galuche [Lani Pasquet & Dean Taylor] and of course Charles Streegan of Pacific Traders and the A-List Events|PR|Advertising team [Kaye Luym, Cybill Gayatin & Ian Baol] for a fun & memorable evening.

What language is that? Esperanto? Jejemon? Bekimon? Jawidsawen nu Vatan! is Ivatan. It means: How beautiful is Batanes! Without a doubt, Batanes is beautiful. Together with Palawan or Siargao, Batanes is the poster image of the natural beauty of the Philippines.
