BPSU has achieved a significant milestone, earning a spot among the world's top 100 universities in Category A8 (SDG-Based Responses to Global Challenges) of the prestigious World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025. This remarkable accomplishment comes in BPSU's inaugural participation in this specific category, underscoring the university's burgeoning commitment to impactful, sustainable development.
Out of 1,253 universities from 87 countries, with 4,866 cuttiing-edge innovative programs evaluated for the 2025 rankings, BPSU was shortlisted for the Top 100 with only four programs submitted. These initiatives, all focused on developmental programs for targeted recipients, showcased the university's dedication to addressing global challenges:
Health Beyond Bars Project, led by BPSU President Dr. Ruby Santos Matibag and her team.
Spreading HOPE (Helping Out People thru Education) Behind Bars in Central Luzon, spearheaded by Director Bernadeth Gabor and her team.
Green Business Marketing Project, a brainchild of Professor Adona Dela Rosa and her team.
Bataan Brgy. Resilience Program, led by Professor Kristine Ortega and team.
"We are incredibly blessed and overjoyed by this news," expressed BPSU President Dr. Ruby B. Santos-Matibag. "This achievement, especially in our first attempt to submit entries for Category A8, truly demonstrates BPSU's unwavering commitment to sustainable development and our resolve to make a tangible difference in our communities and beyond."
The WURI rankings encompass 16 distinct categories, and BPSU's initial foray focused solely on Category A8. Buoyed by this success, the university has ambitious plans for the 2026 rankings, intending to submit all potential programs across all 16 categories.
The entries for WURI 2025 were meticulously prepared and submitted by the dedicated BPSU International Ranking Team, a collaborative effort comprising the BPSU International Relations Office, the Quality Assurance Office, and the Environmental Sustainability Office. The university looks forward to even more positive results in 2026, confident in its extensive portfolio of SDG-related programs and innovative projects that continue to positively impact academe, societies, and communities.
