HOW THE REGULAR FILIPINO CAN HELP STOP VP IMPEACHMENT
There is talk that they will delay the Senate trial on impeachment AFTER the elections.
Because Martin’s camp wants a sure impeachment —and with today’s Senate, malabo mangyari. They may not have the numbers.
Sa House, they only need 1/3 of the numbers, meaning about 106.
Martin has already corrupted majority of the Congressmen, so it was easy for them. They made sure there are many Congressmen running uncontested, who don’t need to be scared of their constituents or even the INC bloc votes.
So kayang kaya ni Martin kahit 200 votes. That’s 200 happy souls today.
The House of Representatives isn’t seen as the most hated institution for nothing.
Pero sa Senate, they need 2/3 of the number, meaning 16 of the 24.
For Sara to be impeached they need 16 Senators to say YES and convict her.
They don’t have the numbers.
This is why there is talk that they will process after the elections, because Martin wants a dominant pro admin Senate slate.
How can regular Filipinos assure this won’t happen? By voting straight PDP LABAN, and voting anyone who IS NOT part of the admin slate.
It would be a tough pill to swallow for those who don’t like people like Philip Salvador but in politics maybe concessions have to be made if it spells a world of difference.
Also if Imee does not outright name and shame Martin Romualdez, and does not throw full support behind Sara at this point, those who are hopeful that she will come through (and that includes me), should give up at this point.
Kailangan na nya mang laglag and dapat hindi pa safe.
It’s not as if she has anything to lose as she is lagging in surveys and cannot have a solid base due to her straddling two camps.
So vote for those who you think will help this country move away from the Marcos-Romualdez regime.
And im not talking about the Senate lang. Congress is very important and the partylist you choose is very very important. Even your local government units like your Mayor.
If you don’t want a repeat of this admin where they get super majority, you can choose the Opposition of the admin bet in your provinces and cities. Campaign for them, support them, tell your relatives about them. OFWs use the power of your purse.
Everything that I said is pointless however, if even the Senators have been bought. We won’t know for sure. If Martin has the confidence to transmit this and begin proceedings even before elections, then alams na.
In fairness Kay Martin, kahit may food emergency sa bansa, kaya nya pang mag ganito.
