87 LGUs in CV get ‘Ideal’ LCPC functionality rating

Eighty-seven local government units (LGUs) across Central Visayas, including Negros Oriental and Siquijor, have obtained an “Ideal” functionality level for their Local Councils for the Protection of Children (LCPCs) for Calendar Year 2025.

This year, 87 out of 136 assessed LGUs, or 63.97 percent, received an “Ideal” level—a significant increase from 55 LGUs, or 40.44 percent in 2024.

To qualify as Ideal, an LGU must attain a rating of 80 percent or higher, based on criteria set in DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2021-039. Other functionality levels include: Basic (20 percent and below), Progressive (21 percent-50 percent), and Mature (51 percent-79 percent) ratings.

The LCPC functionality audit is conducted annually during the first quarter, and aims to evaluate how efficiently and effectively LGUs implement policies, programs, and projects on all the major areas of concern for children.

Samboan 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗚𝗨 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗖𝗔𝗧-𝗩𝗔𝗪𝗖

Once again, the Municipality of Samboan has proven its commitment in protecting the rights and welfare of women and children.

During the National Women’s Month Celebration today, March 27 at Cebu City Hall, Municipal Mayor Doc Tito Calderon represented by MSWDO Head received the award for Highly Functional LGU in the Local Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC) Functionality Assessment, with a rating of 92%.

This recognition was awarded by the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT-7) and the Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Council, highlighting Samboan's dedication to strengthening policies, programs, and services that safeguard vulnerable sectors in the community.

This achievement reflects the LGU’s continuous efforts in upholding gender equality, ensuring a safe environment for women and children, and fostering an inclusive and empowered society.
